The German contingent may be ok at passing the ball out from the back, but if Martin is going to be involved, which it sounds like he will due to Pinto's injury, that scares me to death <yikes>
He's cocked up and gifted possession to opponents passing back to our 'keeper from the half way line before, never mind intricate little touches inside our own penalty area <wah>
    Get well soon, Ivo <ok>

If we get 8 fugures for Jacob then I'm sure we could raid Darmstadt or another 2nd division outfit for a 6ft plus dynamic young right back for a couple of hundred thousand Euros.
We have already proven that we are 1 injury or suspension from disaster in that position before the season kicks off.
What if Rusty picks up a knock ?<yikes>

I'm guessing our highly talented multiple skilled acquisition Widshut could easily do a job there if called upon.<whistle>

You get what you pay for..........sometimes <doh>
Nice parting gambit from AN, wasting £7m of money we didn't need to spend.

At least the big greasy German is buying defenders, they may turn out to be total mugs but for now I'm glad to see new faces through the door.
Realistically if you get 7 players in for less than €3m you get what you pay for .

Of course if only 1 or 2 of them come up trumps, you've probably got your monies worth.

Sorry DD, I mostly agree with your contributions, but to label DF as a "big greasy German" is not particularly clever, nor factually accurate probably. I expect better from you.

Murphy's growing up in Newcastle shirts? Is that common knowledge? Were they the family's club??

Latest rumour to grace HITC is that Forrest want to spend £6m of their Assombalonga money on Jerome. Hmmm

I can see how that would work for them. Jerome is a proven goal scorer at this level. We will be a poorer team if he goes.

At the moment we have only two recognised strikers CJ and Basil. If CJ goes for £6m - a tempting offer? then we will have to find at least one replacement. Can we replace CJ for the same or less money? Not sure who is out there but I expect many of you will have some good ideas.

Pathetic offer. 6M for Jerome would be really insulting.

Jacob gone for an undisclosed fee. Hopefully we got a reasonable wedge up front which we can spend on strengthening the areas we are weak in.

Read somewhere on here, that the bulk is paying off "the debt" the board has somehow managed despite all the money we have taken in., in the past 10 years. Don't expect any big signings.

Apparently Florists have just bought Daryl Murphy, so maybe don't want CJ <ok>

    Do they mention the fee?

He is fantastic at Championship Level. Really smart signing if true.

He only had one decent season at Ipswich with many poor ones at Ipswich and Sunderland!

Are you being serious. 10 years ago we had so much debt that we were in danger of going out of business. The next 5 years was spent clearing that debt and the next 4 years we spent large sums either trying to get promotion or trying to avoid relegation. If you care to look at the accounts you will see that we only made a small profit in one of those 4 seasons. Last year we are budgeting for a loss of £15m and next year we lose the parachute payment of £40m. Quite simply we have to spend £55m less next season than we did last and we won't achieve that by putting 10p on the price of a pie!! We have a new wage structure and obviously we will sell any existing player on a higher contract than that if a suitable offer is made and replace them with a player within the new wage structure which means cheapies and loans. The money raised by selling players will go into the kitty and, as you say, the days of big fees and wages are well and truly over. To do anything else risks financial ruin. Perhaps the Board can be accused of giving too much money to Hughton and Neil but that is hindsight and I can only imagine the uproar there would have been at the time if the Managers had asked for the funds and the Board had refused.
