Speaking to German media today, Leipzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz reiterated the view Liverpool are wasting their time trying to sign Keita this summer. “We don’t sell any of our players just to get money,” he told Bild. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...rdinary-70-million-offer-naby-keita-rejected/
He also said; "At RB Leipzig we hold on to our players for one more season before they are free to strengthen our direct rivals for almost nothing." #moveon
Since most of our transfer negotiations seem to take at least 2 months before we make a ,tentative, bid you may well be correct.
Yeah they paid £12m for him last summer and are obviously going to rinse you for about £75m a year later. Proper amateurs
Mweh... If Keita is the man Klopp is 100% sure is who he wants to finalise the team and sees no one else filling the role envisaged? Tell the player you will be back next year to buy him out at release clause and he can have some of the money RB will lose out on turning down the offers this year. End of day, I want Klopp to end up with the players he really wants rather than a second choice unless that second choice he's equally happy with. He's building a team not stroking our insecurities as fans. RB every right to hold on and if they don't want the extra money or don't need it fair ebough. Same goes for VD...Southampton can gamble that he is as good for another year or doesn't get injured and the price goes down next year.
And Neymar, Messi, VvD (although we could have done that one) etc etc etc Unfortunately thats not how football works.
You mean before RB Salzburg, his subsequent transfer to Leipzig was a tax scam we had no chance in preventing But before that he would have been an 18 year old prospect who fans would turn down because they want a finished player
And when we miss out on top4 and go another year without a title challenge, as we sit around waiting and waiting
Its IMO up to the player now to try a force his move or if he doesn't do so to knuckle down and do his job where he is.
That's a bit of crystal balling there. We didn't have him last year and didn't miss out on top 4. As I say if there are multiple targets Klopp is equally happy with go on and try and buy them. One player isn't the reason we struggled defensively last year. We appear to be targeting the areas we all know we were weak in. I'm not saying put all your eggs in one basket but let's live in reality. We've offered a record breaking (for us) amount...theyve turned it down. If LFC want to offer more in the belief they'll get their man? Go right ahead. RB seem not to care what we offer so why I stated what I did. All I'm saying is if Klopp honestly rates the player that highly then I'm patient enough to wait and get him next year. No other point made regarding this player. Are we looking for Klopp to buy a team to make sure of top 4 over his first term or win the league? Personally? We won't (as has been played out) be able to just go buy our first choices at the time of our choosing like other clubs. So do I want us to wait and buy when He's available or buy some random to say we bought and perpetuate the mediocrity we've seen for so long. This is all based on the idea Klopp doesn't have alternative targets of course. We don't know that is the case.
We scraped over the line for top4 last season and that was without the extra Euro games and giving up on the FA cup. The others have all bought and strengthened, bar Spurs who are already in a better position than us, whilst we've bought one player for an area we already have lots of players. You think we're going to manage that again without sorting out the three glaring faults in our squad, CB, DM/CM and LB?
But it was also with an AFCON tournament combined with the worst injury record of any of the top 4 challengers
If we can't buy first choice, move on, look for someone just as good but that we can buy. We could be waiting for season upon season for Klopp desired choices. Football moves too fast for that.
now now... I thin kits very fair to think that if LFC add ONE first team player and go into a season with european football while the teams below us strengthen that its reasonable to expect us to implode again in janaury and send up 6th or worse. If we go in with one buy IMO we are trusting to luck on injuries and we only need to look at Rafa's last season where that can get you. I totally agree about Keita but the point is we cannot wait with no midfield reinforcements for him so its a case of it would be nice lad but if you won't force the move we are buying someone else. Its not a RANDOM and seriously if we target a player and are willing to shovel 66million pounds at it then i am sorry but this stuff about at a time of our choosing is bollocks. money talks.. they aint listening though and nobody else will buy him for that amount so move on.
we lost ONE player to AFCON. We had injuries yes but we didn't rotate and we blew up in jan/feb... our injury record is our own fault
Rotation is a lie. Chelsea rotated less and won. Before that Leicester played the same 11 every single game of their season and won. Also our key injuries were impact injuries not muscle, so bad luck rather than overplaying.
