He's solid all round mate, he'd be decent. I'd wager we can get him on loan at least with Hart there and Adrian having been given a contract that no other team in its right mind would cover for a loan.

    Good goal keeper though.

With just one year left on his deal, Grayson said Mannone was tempted by the potential of a longer deal. The final decision was left with the long-serving goalkeeper. Grayson said: "We’ve agreed a fee with Reading. The player is going into the last year of his contract and when a suitable offers comes in you have to consider it. We’ve made it clear to Vito it was up to him what he wanted to do, he felt for his long-term security it was probably best to go. I know he’s discussing personal terms and potentially having a medical. "With any player, when they go into the last year of their contract, you’ve got to consider it. We’ll see where it goes, if it falls through for any reason Vito will be welcomed back. It was put into his hands what he wanted to do and he made the decision that he wanted to go." The imminent move leaves the Black Cats light on goalkeeping options, with Mika the only senior stopper in the squad. Grayson has been impressed with Max Stryjek but admits he will need to move swiftly to identify another stopper. The Black Cats have been linked with a number of players in that position already, including Rob Green and Alex Smithies. He said: "If he goes its clear we need another goalkeeper but you saw tonight young Max, I’m not saying he’s going to be number one but he’s shown what a good goalkeeper he is and what could be. "We’re looking in all positions, we’re vulnerable to players leaving. If this had been a week ago we might have had a deal done by now but if he goes we’ve got a list of players we’ll be looking it."

I wonder if we could make a move for Darlow.

According to Sky, the Mags and Palace are after Adrian, which if true, would put the blockers on any Randolph move.

As long as it's Randolph and not Adrian!! Adrian can;t catch a ball! The amount of things that bounce off him is scary.

I'd have the lad at Stoke who filled in when Butland was injured, can't think of his name just now, he was more than decent and has lost his place so might welcome regular first team football.

Lee Grant - he's about 34 now or something Stoke's number 2 so would be surprised if they let him go.

Of all positions, Keeper is where you need to have some quality in depth, otherwise you are doomed.
Outfield there is usually some scope to 'mix and match', not between the posts though.

So, if no one comes in, how confident are we with what remains?
From what little I've seen of him, Mika looks like a back up keeper. OK at a push.

I've not seen the young lad play but he seems to be highly considered.
I'd have used exactly those words about Jordan 18 months ago.

I've seen Robert Green's name mentioned a lot.
At 37 I don't expect he's improved much from his West Ham days when he was rather prone to unfortunate errors.

I'm really surprised we've agreed this tbh.

Grayson's either showing a hell of a lot of faith in the the other 2 or someome else is coming in soon.

    I'm assuming the latter!

Good luck to the lad, bit of a gamble on our part unless SG has someone lined up.

Apparently we've offered £3.5m for Randolph. Decent piece of business imo.

Those ****ing drinks man <laugh> wonder how much Carabao gave them for that, or is it part of their ongoing sponshorship deal every new signing has to pretend they're some sort of hyped up sugar junkie? <laugh>

If it's accepted. Selling his predecessor beforehand doesn't come across as particularly smart though.

There has to be something else behind those headlines.

Everyone has been told they can leave if they want. We can hardly go back on that promise. This Irish lad is a safer pair of hands imo, would be a step up as Vito is just too mistake prone for me.

Off the cuff, I don't know this Irish lad or how good he is.

But he's not signed on yet?

Selling our 2 goalies up front is a massive risk.

There must be a reason why our new manager has laid all his cards on the table.
