I couldn't careless about the fee. We are not exactly skint. The most important question is he any good. Looking on the net Kopp seemed to rate him so I'm quite surprised they have sold him.
We are skint, and we will not be splasing 5m here, 10m there on players. Last Summer we spent 3-5m on a keeper we didn't need and 13m on a CM we didn't need and left huge holes in other areas of the squad. I just don't like seeing us making the same mistakes.
Two of which are injured, and Evandto is not defensively minded. Meyler might think he will be ready for opening day, but he won't be 100%, Mason has not played in pre season so fair to say he is still at best a couple of months out. So from your 4, only 2 are available now and will be match fit in two weeks. Stewart has obviously been bought as a replacement for Hudd, to operate as a DM (his most effective position ), plus can cover CB (which we desperately need ). Sensible signing
No, he's played in the PL. There's no issue not being able to get into a Liverpool side, I don't think any of our players would get anywhere near it either. We need more than 2 defensive midfielders, we need a strong spine to the team. Meyler is a capable replacement too, I just wouldn't fancy him being the starter. It's swings and roundabouts really though. The money saved on a striker by getting Frazier on a free can go on this deal.
Sensible?! Again, the kid has only played at L1 level at his highest, and we're spunking 5m on him to replace Huddlestone? Why not get someone like Ledley in on a free? At least he's done it at this level and presents a much lower gamble.
Right, so let's spend £5m + on a player we might need for the first game of the season but leave gaping holes at centre back and left back. Put it this way - if Clucas stays then once Meyler is fit Stewart wouldn't get in my starting XI.
Making the odd appearance off the bench for Liverpool does not mean the PL is his level. None of our players would get near it, except the one about to be sold there. The one you said would only attract interest from relegation clubs incidentally.
WTF is with people and needing to resort to silly insults like this instead of just genuinely discussing something? If you don't like listening to a podcast about City then don't listen to it, no one's forcing you.
I didn't say we had a surplus, I said spending 5m on a CM is unneccessary when we have bodies in the squad to fill the hole, and capable FAs available if we really need more back up. We currently have one senior CB on the books and soon to be no left backs.
Well you can't say that he's only a L1 player when he's featured for Liverpool. If he was only making the odd appearance for Burnley/Swansea etc then it's completely different. Yes, they're bringing in Robertson but whether he get's into their side is another thing completely. I said I think he's a bottom 6 player, I stand by that.
Playing kids towards the end of the season or for the final five minutes of matches doesn't really mean a whole lot I wouldn't think (if he played a more substantial role feel free to correct me) I'm judging him off his significant bulk of appearances.
So how do you know you'd be bored by it? I can't imagine any City fan could be bored by discussion about games and events surrounding the club or interviews with former players and managers (*).
