Everton have signed Cuco Martina! Scouse fans clamoring on youtube to watch a solmo youtube clip (with obligatory **** music) of his screamer versus Arsenal thinking Koeman can turn him into Roberto Carlos.
And will always be remembered for THAT goal! Heavens - still makes me smile thinking about it now. Probably will always do so too.
Van Dijk is still going to Liverpool and Bertrand still off to City. Its pretty much the usual transfer window for us. Only missing a 100 page 'Saint x' thread for a player who turns out to be rubbish or not coming at all.
Not expecting exciting incomers this window...I feel this lingering takeover is killing us. However, I will see it as a good window if we don't lose good players. If we look at in a different way....we could look at it as a window we signed VVD, Bertrand and Cedric....that sounds better doesn't it? Keeping players means that we don't have to replace them...probably with a poorer version.
Not losing key players and not adding further quality will be seen by the panic merchants as us standing still. I agree the takeover could be hindering potential transfers in AND out probably. As the squad stands we won't need our passports for europa next year but would keeping our stars and a bit of stability be that bad ?
I understand your point of view and I am really hopeful that the new manager will get more from our squad but we do have the same gaps....we still need another defensive midfielder and a goal scoring attacking midfielder even if we keep everyone we want
I'm perfectly sanguine about the state of our squad as it stands without any departures. It must be remembered that we are stronger with the return of VVD and Charlie and we have an new CB to cover the loss of Jose. We have a few options for DM alongside Oriel with Pierre, Clasie, JWP and Jack Stephens having good experience of the position. I would guess that a lot is hoped of Boufal to fulfil the goalscoring from midfield with Redmond and Dusan chipping in also. A lot depends on the new manager of course and how he will get the best out of the players at his disposal, we should only be looking to bring in players that will improve our starting XI.
