This is probably the point they find an adequate replacement costs about £8m. I expect a freebie or a loan.
Might be nothing but we've not had any pictures from training this morning, which is odd. Was there no training because of tonights game or maybe because Leo wasn't there?
If it makes anyone feel any better Ehab broke his finger yesterday, whilst riding or falling off his Polo pony apparently. I can guess what the next comment with me.....
Maybe he sat down and took was told to him not at 100% face value but thought the person offering him the job had a modicum of honesty and integrity. That Allam had some decency, after all it's a trait most humans possess. But no. Allam had no intention of honouring anything he said to him or if he did he's that clueless he's made a right balls up of it. If he actually intended on giving us a chance this season, as stated on his cringeworthy video, then the level of incompetence on display from daft lad and his side kick is, quite literally , unprecedented. Not many thought it could be this bad. It's like watching a clown run across a minefield. I find it hard not to feel sorry for LS as I think he's been lied to on a massive scale, he's been mugged right off. There's a few people involved in this fiasco I have no respect for but LS isn't one of them, I can't blame him in the slightest. I hope he walks.
The interesting point raised by others however is why appoint him in the first place? If we have zero intention of making a fist of promotion or even signing any players and they just want their money back, then why not employ someone desperate and dirt cheap who won't question anything? Someone like a David Hockaday. Something doesn't add up.
Well of the Russian posters who came here said, and I highlighted it at the time, that he managed to do a lot with not so much at his last club. I thought that was a warning sign.
Maybe they've just done what they did with Barmby and Phelan, appointed them, then immediately decided not to let them spend any money.
Pity it was just his finger, John. That's probably what the delay is then with our anticipated player incoming today, he is now struggling to hold his crayons in his hand to sign paperwork.
For all those 'perplexed', wondering why 'it doesn't add up', etc., as said earlier, I believe the above touches on exactly what the answer to your wondering is. Enob thought he could do it all on the cheap, but is now finding out that he can't. Hence only 1 loan signing (n.b. from Chelsea) to date. Question is, will he realise he's got it all wrong and change tactic or will his arrogant, stubborn, incompetent traits prevail.
It's because the current situation is cock up, not conspiracy. Ehab appointed Slutsky thinking that he will build a squad for him. But when it comes to actually signing that squad, Ehab baulks at the price, or adds some ludicrous clause, or does a myriad of other things that means the deal doesn't get done. What we are seeing is an incompetent cretin blundering around, but when the consequences of the blunders hit him in the face he will always take the cheapest course of remedial action. There is no nefarious master plan. It's an idiot idioting about like an idiot.
Didn't we spend about £17m under Phelan? Or do you mean not him specifically and they choose where we spend the money?
The Allams have always blundered around from day one, making random statements and dressing them up as strategy. The name change, based on the abstract of a Harvard business school paper about hedge fund deals. The loose use of language during the 'die when they want' days. The Airco evictions based on a snap decision to seek an improved academy grade on the cheap. A membership scheme with some redeeming features that ended up being a punishment beating. This is just the continuation of the last few years. Stumble around, be prepared to take a harsh decision as mitigation when things go wrong, pay wedge to good lawyers when being harsh doesn't make people back down. Kinell. I've turned into PLT......
He spent that under instructions of the Chinese buyers, didn't he? That investment was a contingent element of the deal to sell the club. Maybe.
I'm not swallowing all that. Do you think they'd be ordered who to sign? I can't see it, even if ultimately it wasn't their money.
I think the Allams thought they were spending someone else's £17m, which was allowed for in the deal they struck over the summer. The £17m was explicitly stated by Ehab after the play off final, it seemed strange at the time why such a precise figure should be quoted. Maybe that's why.
