Again, what point are you trying to make? That early one, they didn't quite figure out exactly how it was going to work, so winged it a bit? completely normal in the early years of TV shows. Not sure what that has to do with tossing out the rule book 50 years later and retconning all of it.
Really its not. Your claiming canon to something that was expediency rather than planned....thats basis changed over the ten years they sorted it out. So canon is bullshit (as Lucas has always stated....what he says is canon is canon) Well BBC is now saying the same.
No they should have stopped because they have all been ****e since Goldeneye (the last good Bond film imo). But the novels are a different medium. Most people have never picked up a James Bond book in their life, everyone has seen at least one Bond film.
What changed? Nothing that was established later on caused any major continuity issues with the older episodes. Other than the first two regenerations being referred to as a "Renewal" and a "Change of appearance" respectively. All that changed was the name "regeneration" which was first introduced in pertwee's last episode, Planet of the Spiders.
You're claiming a set of rules they are now supposedly failing when: A) the rules changed multiple times because they hadn't the rules pre written (unlike novel adaptations) B) it's theirs, they create what ever rules they bloody like lol. As you say...you don't like it and you state you won't watch it. But don't justify your decision based on some mythic cult of canon that never existed in the first place. You don't want a female Dr Who...own it. Clutching at canon is just silly.
Nope Go look back and look it up...i had to...my doctors were mid 70's...id remembered discussion on a "about" documentary but had to check back. The method and reasons for regeneration changed many times in many contradictory ways until settled in 74
You're talking utter bullshit. I am supposed to lump it because they changed the name of the process twenty years before I was born. Nothing major was changed AT ALL. All of a sudden letting Time Lords change gender is a big ****ing change, and a daft one. I dont want a female Doctor Who, a male Xena Warrior Princess, a Male Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a female Thor. There is no need to gender swap established characters in TV shows, other than bullshit pandering.
No.. I'm not accusing you of anything untoward mate just saying the reason you are giving is bullshit. You just can't use Canon as an excuse because as I said. The canon didn't preexist. The original writers themselves admitted it was pure expediency rather than a deliberate plot mechanism. So...since the original writers (the Lucas for arguments sake) changed it many times themselves and are largely dead. Stating there are rules that can't be broken makes no sense. Like comics...canon can be written and rewritten many times...if it works it stays...if it doesn't often they revert sometimes as if the change never happened...(spidey did it before Bobby Ewing lol) Hey? I didn't watch the majority of the last series because the head was on a political crusade. That's it...not me arguing DR Who wouldn't be a socialist or capitalist etc etc.. just me not liking it. But I watched a few first just to see. So....you don't want to watch? Fair enough.. .laugh is...i think they are in more trouble if it works....do they keep regenerating women or piss the women off by making the next one the latest cause? The pregnant gay Muslim Jewish cybernetic manwomen with beigeness?
She is English Indian. Naomi Scott, Pink Ranger in the recent Power Rangers film, and since this is a football board, She's married to Jordan Spence
I stopped watching when Capaldi became the doctor. The stories are just repeated regardless who the Doctor is. I have a feeling the new Doctor will encounter the same villains as all the rest.
I've planned it out, not watching for 4 weeks, I then watch 2 a week which will give me 6 to watch I then watch the penultimate and finale when they are on.
After seeing it last night.... prob wise. It seriously lacked a moment. Sorry but several stories going but not one had...... impact.. Also one moment was pure utter total rubbish that should never have happened and lent zero to the story
Would that be the Ed Sheeran moment? I heard about it, whoever is responsible for that should be sacked.
Yup. I mean its not that he didnt ruin anything its just everyone ****ing knew he was turning up then its an irrelevant bit. I hope i know what happens. My thoughts were Timing confused. Explainable only by ravans flying about madly. Scenes that could have been done in last episode of last year. (Two min)
Well first off... It's fiction. Secondly... It's fiction. And thirdly... I would say 9/10 timelords they've ever shown have been male. What if timelords rarely regenerate as women? Would explain why every time you see more than one it's usually a group of men. It's Doctor Who cannon they can change into a woman. It's also cannon that they have some subconscious control over what face/appearance they take. These are things mentioned on the show multiple times. Maybe this doctor is subconsciously a sexist and doesn't normally like taking female form. Given that this is fiction and fits the storyline provided before, there is no reason to throw a fit because they chose a woman. Noone complained when the master became Missy. He wasn't a main character. Noone claimed it broke story then. Even if all random. Going back to odds. If I flip a coin 12 times and get head each time. What's the odds of me getting tail the next time? Still just 50%. Doesn't matter if he's been male each time before. And the odds at 50:50 of 12 men in a row is 1 in 4000 not one in millions. That's well below the odds of other things happening in the show. Whether Jodie W will be a good doctor or not remains to be seen. Nothing wrong with giving the job to a woman.
