It looks like Celtic are on the verge of bringing Forster back to the club.

However, there is confusion over whether the 6' 7" stopper will be joining the Bhoys on loan or on a permanent deal worth £1.5m.

Either way, it is expected that Celtic will sign the keeper before tonight's Europa Cup deadline meaning he will be eligible to play against Swiss side FC Sion on Thursday night.

disappointed there is better goalkeepers out there than him , never commanded his area and his kicking was poor last season , granted he did make some great saves ,

don' t think we will sign him on loan. pardew was moaning about the spl last year so doubt he would send him back to us on loan.

would be a big gamle if we sign him to throw him in against FC Sion,

I think i'd rather have Zaluska and use the money on a striker

    He doesn't command his box

    His kicking is poor

    Not comfortable at crosses

And he not the best at low shots

    Bad move in my opinion!

I like Forster. He's still young, especially for a goalkeeper, and I think if we can sign him up permanently he'll do a good job for us in the coming years.

I will be a bit pissed off if it's another loan deal and we end up back in this position again next summer. I know these are tough economic times, especially for Scottish football, but the fact we can't sign up a goalie for £1.5m is a real worry.

To be fair he is still very young in terms of a keeper

So he does still have the ability to progress.

But if we are buying a keeper whom we want to progress and turn into a better player id rahter he was initially playing 2nd fiddle to a more senior keeper - and thats not going to happen as Forster was ahead of Zaluska last year - and nothings changed

He's very much the same as Lucas, concidering the size of the squad I can ****ing believe that we are not ensuring our signings are capable of significanlty improving the first team. We've had a long time to find someone.

We have no desire at some level in this club to improve every year they target the minimum possible expenditure to capture the title and more often than not get it wrong. If we in strachan's last season spent what was needed to improve the squad before Kaunas we would be better off finacialy and have more silverware.

The current policy isn't working, no bonues should be paid without a league title from now on!

    (<laugh> usually signings excite fans)

If the Fraser Forster signing is true it does fall a bit flat after so long a wait, though, no doubt, he inspires more confidence than Lucas Zaluska. Being young, he also has the potential to improve and do a great job in the years to come (that is, if he's been bought as opposed to another loan deal!). I'm a bit concerned that Gary Hooper's out injured. Anthony Stokes has had a great start to the season but I think we really need a sharp out-and-out striker.

Wasn't impressed with his signing last year tbh, why the **** are we getting Newcastles 4the choice keeper on loan!!! He wasn't as bad as I feared but we should have had him signed up soon as the season finished if he was that highly rated by the club.

It would look like we have x amount to spend to get a striker & keeper thats why we've had looks at several free agents and various options. Think Lennon was hoping the Pleitoksa guy was his keeper so he had the transfer budget to blow on a striker.

If the guy isn't any good then you have to increase the x, we've scrimped and save plenty over the last few years we now have something worthy of investing in failure to do so leads to second place we've seen it before forster lost us a cup final and a key game at the start of the season he should be chased for than.

TTC -Is that not a bit harsh? I thought he made a lot more great saves than mistakes! Keepers tend to be on a hiding to nothing - one mistake can be fatal and they're crucified for it whereas strikers make loads but if they eventually score, their mistakes tend to be forgotten and put down to at least creating chances!

That's him back at Parkhead then. Another loan deal. Don't know the full details yet but I can't believe we haven't stumped up the cash for a permanent signing.

We have the option to buy him for a nominal fee at the end of the season. Basically we can see how he develops this year before we decide to buy him or not.

In other words, if we win the SPL and gain entry to the CL Lennon will get the money to buy Forster. Otherwise we'll be looking for a new keeper again next summer.

Yeah, I was using the official Celtic corporate bullshit instead of the truth <ok>

I'm still glad we haven't spent money on him yet because he is nowhere near the finished article. Although I don't think a new keeper will make or break this season; a new striker will though.

Any Celtic supporter who doesn't welcome Forster back either doesn't attend many games or is living in cuckoo land.
Most Celtic supporters derided our centre defenders last year and for most of the year reckoned we had the worse defence
in the SLP. However our defence has a whole must have got something right as we finished last season with a record number
    of shoot-outs.
I know many fans would have jumped at "money-grabber Givens", would that have been a good move played
one game and got his first injury.
We know what we are getting with Forster a massive young goal-keeper that will give his all for the club, a goalie who
is sound;ie not carrying an injury liable to flare up at any time. Close analysis of his kicking may just indicate that sometimes
the pass back was wrong. the coming out for the ball, maybe his fault maybe defenders, at least most of them know each
other well. I think we would have spent a lot of money to be sure of getting better. He will make mistakes all goalies do.

I agree superhoops. I'm not slating Forster, just saying that he still has a lot to learn and has to improve his distribution of the ball drastically.

You're right about spending big money on a position that rarely guarantees success. I'd rather have Forster on loan with the option to buy than have spent a few million on someone who is essentialist an unknown quantity for Celtic.
