Even I'm getting irritated now! But, Thursday is always the day. The day of days. The day that conquers all other days. Roll on Thursday. WE LOVE YOU THURSDAY.
Didn't I see QPR described by the expression "accident-prone" last weekend. It is true we do nothing easily. I have never followed any other club....but are they all like this and we just don't know.
From WATRBs ================== Speaking to David McIntyre on fb. and he reckons there is no truth in it someof our conversation to follow. Me: so there is absolutely no truth in fernandes taking over even though, hes been on national tv and admitted it? unless its a publicity stunt? David McIntyre: he's a mate of theirs and they might bring him on board. don't forget they don't have a company chairman at the moment.
Unfortunately Beth we have been saddled with owners who have no real interest in the club or their fans,to them it is just a venture to make more money.Hence them spending no money on players and dithering over how much they can get for selling the club. The worrying thing is will whoever takes over be any different? Certain other clubs have had their own dire owners namely those involved with Ken Bates and Peter Ribsdale. It just seems we have got the greediest and most corrupt of the lot!
Yep, I've got it in my head now that this is NOT going to happen. Once again we have set ourselves up for great disappointment. No money, no players and left with the goons!
Buying a boutique West London football club is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman: go in with a few flattering half-truths, pretend you are richer than you really are, and butter her up with offers of profligate spending. Under all circumstances deny the rumour that you want to double-team her with your mate. String her along, playing hard to get, until Thursday arrives. Then, when you have her all to yourself, do what her previous boyfriends did : bend her over, shaft her up the tailpipe, and keep all your cash to yourself.....
I'm following Tony Fernandez(i'm pretty sure it's him..) on twitter and everything still seems positive for a takeover, he's retweeting lots of messages from qpr fans, and has retweeted one relating to the thursday meeting. Lots of malaysian people are already congratulating him on the takeover, and encouraging to buy up some Malaysian footballer! I think the rumours of him wanting to buyout the Mittals are rubbish(how many seperate sources are there saying this is the case?). He knows they're good for the club, and more importantly knows their money is good for the club. The price of his newly purchased asset will stay high by keeping them on board.. Plus as everyone says, he doesn't have the cash himself to bakroll the whole side. How does he plan on "giving the manager what he wants" when his personal fortune is only 200mill? Bloody hell guys this thread is a wave of doom!
You're right Grifter, only one source so far. But it is that University of Journalism, the Ealing Gazette...so you could well be right again, about the rumours being rubbish!
Surely these tweets would be in Malay (Bahasa Melayu) and not English if he was communicating with Malaysians and doesn't his name end with an S and not a Z? Understand a bit of Indonesian, which is virtually the same language, so give us a link if you have one.
I couldn't see him springing a complete buyout on Mittal etc. the day before the previous deal was supposed to go through either. Does he really have the financial clout to mess one of the richest men in the world around like that? "oh by the way lakshmi, the deal we've been discussing for the past months and were Due to seal tomorrow isn't what i want, i want all your shares too." Perhaps it was discussed much earlier on in the proceedings and we're only getting wind of it now, or alternatively it was always the plan for fernndez to buy the lot. Either way, i think it's wrong to suggest he's only brought this up now as a way out. Also, would a bit of extra publicity for AirAsia be worth being labelled as a man prepared to renegue on deals late in the process?
http://twitter.com/#!/tonyfernandes He seems to just be talking in English. I'm not sure if the qpr related stuff on his profile are retweets or not actually, i'm pretty new to twitter.. tonyfernandes Tony Fernandes "@68wembley: If @tonyfernandes takes over #qpr on thursday, it shall be forever known as #fernandesday not thursday" I duno why that would be public on his profile if he didn't want it to be though?
Sure looks like him although the QPR related tweets are just re-tweets as far as I can see. They're asking for this Malaysian striker to be signed (warning, turn sound off!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5AXT2dm2iY However knowing our luck we'll probably end up with a 5'2" Malaysian centre back!
The Malaysian entepreneur is also set to bid £3 million for Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha as he attempts to improve Neil Warnockâs squad before the transfer window closes. An announcement is set to made on Thursday to confirm whether Fernandes has succeeded in taking a majority stake of the west London club. Although there were claims of a press conference being scheduled for Thursday, nothing had yet been formally agreed â however it was said, by sources, to be âextremely closeâ. Talks were continuing into the night and there will be a statement on Thursday morning either way. Fernandes, who owns the AirAsia airline and is also the principal at Formula One team Lotus, was in London yesterday to close the deal to acquire 51 per cent of QPR from Bernie Ecclestone. The balance of Ecclestoneâs 62 per cent holding, it is hoped, will be picked up by Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who already holds 33 per cent and has considered mounting a full takeover.
Sky Sports News are just saying that an important announcement is coming up regarding QPR and to stay by your seats !!
