Peter Capaldis magic sunglasses were the worst decision made by anyone ever.
Ive got a female doctor and she great but I still won't watch the new one so don't care.
Ian Holloway would be a good doctor who- I'd watch that.

OK, I personally couldn't give a toss about this so will ask this question. Did anyone actually watch it, and was it good entertainment?

I did not watch but happen to think Jodie Whittaker is a very talented actor, actress, act-person or whatever the correct PC way of saying it is?

I believe they're all 'actors' now Greg, at least until it's the Oscars, or some other awards night, when they revert to being actresses because, hey, who doesn't like something shiny?

These Hopkins-haters amuse me with their oh-so-much-intolerant vitriol. Why the name calling? Is that how the enlightened deal with those not sharing the same worldview?

And, yes, I'm aware that I used the same b-word, but in my case it was for the purpose of making a rather poor and sexist joke on the basis that I don't claim to be enlightened by any stretch of the imagination.

You're right of course Uber, it's entirely wrong to call Hopkins a bitch.

    Actually she's a ****.

Agree re comments about Dr Who and not watching it. I used to catch it occasionally if bored and I thought it had gone downhill since David Tennent lefty. I watched it recently and thought it was s@@te. I also believe that Steven Moffat is leaving the show so that tells me that he has taken it as far as it can go.

I am surprised at the strength of feeling on here regarding what was always a child's TV programme as far as I can remember.

Of course it is a serious point that nothing should ever change from what we remember it to be, especially TV light entertainment. Even more so if that involves a woman, FFS, taking a leading role. Jesus Christ almighty, what has the world come to, when old men can't keep things exactly the same as they think they were, in their faded sepia toned minds, when anyone different to them knew their place and kept to it? We all know that women are simply there to be decorative and the subject of jokes, as would LGBT etc people if they weren't so ****ing scary and alien to us. It's a ****ing disgrace, I'm off to vote for Jake Rees Mogg, while reading everything that Katie Hopkins ('outrageous opinions for money r us') has ever written (do you think she gets even more outspoken when she is 'on the rag' lads? Perhaps she charges even more for these opinions!)

All meant in light hearted fun of course, just as I am sure all the posts on this thread are :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0105-wink::1980_boogie_down:etc etc

Quite the opposite Goldie, I'm intensely relaxed about the new Doctor Who being a woman. I like and respect all women. Well, nearly all, I'm prepared to make an exception in the case of Katie Hopkins.

It would be wrong to two-time Polly Toynbee, wouldn't it? :)

Whilst we're keeping things light-hearted and fun, I just wanted to ask what is wrong with wishing to keep some things exactly the same as (we think*) they are? I grant you that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter a fig whether the new Doctor is a man, woman or a piece of flotsam, and we'll all get over it anyway, but surely not all forms of conservatism are wrong?

I saw a quote yesterday in which Ms Whittaker first described herself as a feminist and then a woman, so bully for her. Feminism seems to be one of the few "isms" that, whilst (I would suggest) clearly discriminating towards women, is somehow still seen as a positive. Why can't feminists instead be equalitists or something?

Mind you, I know a feminist that works for my company. She's got smashing tits. :)

[Not sure why 'we think' unless us old geezers are constantly deluded?]
