Reading rumours that Sainz will leave the red bull family after this race and move to Renault as soon as Hungary. With Palmer losing his seat (finally) and gasly getting the str seat. Big news if true.
Hopefully true, Sainz is starting to stagnate at STR and Palmer is now talking the mick. If they wanted someone British why not Alex Lyn
Apparently it's because the Sainz family started the Verstappen to Ferrari fake news to get the ball rolling but Red bull are not happy. And why not because carlos will be stuck otherwise. He would be better off creating his own future as he is a very good driver
The TR pipeline is quite weak right now, Gasly is presumably next up, but his Super Formula season hasn't been stellar against his team-mate. Kvyat seems to stay on by default right now. Kubica has apparently tested in the RB sim. Sainz to Renault in return for releasing Kubica from any commitments he has there? I can dream.
They've been really clever to get away with this, whilst other teams have been stopped. Other teams were directly warming their hydraulic fluid, whilst Mercedes just run the hydraulic lines close enough to their gearbox that the fluid heating up is a side effect of heating the gearbox, which is allowed under parc ferme.
Getting a bit of attention down here, this article from autosport.com... https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/132366/hartley-favourite-for-toro-rosso-us-gp-drive
I read this. Now... I thought a few years ago he was dropped by the Red Bull group. sounds like either scraping the barrel at red bull or the media forgetting this while looking at past RB dev drivers. Here is a page on Red bull assosiated drivers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Bull_Junior_Team Cucumber (Karthikeyan) is on the list. Lets put him in the car!
Seems like they need a driver for a single race with zero prospect of a race seat in near future. Who would risk their career on that? If Di Resta wasn't chasing a Williams seat might be another opportunity for him to prove his worth? Maybe get Palmer to change the shape of the TR? Have Red Bull/TR not got any reserve drivers?
it's taken him 10 years and umpteen other redbull junior drivers to finally get a seat out of them. Current Le Mans winner & WEC champion.
