ZICO,Mel sterland,Micky Thomas and Kammy ? Chris fairclough ? Carl Shutt and Verardi ? All did their bit,although most were slightly past their best.
Fairclough signed on loan prior to promotion and I think Sterland was signed at start of promotion season. Also Imre Varadi played in the promotion year, can't remember who else but i'm sure there was another defender at least
Think Baird was a Billy signing, wasn't Chapman brought in to replace him ? With Chesh's post, think he is right about Shutt and Kamara, but I thought Thomas was signed for first year back in the top division, but could be wrong about that. John Mclelland was the other defender I was thinking about also
Sterland was a fantastic signing wasn't he. He was a top performer and played for England so that was some coup to get him whilst we were in the 2nd Division. Shame his career was ended early by injury.
Agree with your comments Milky..... Disagree about Bianchi and Adryan though. In general, Redders kept playing Bianchi out of position, Bianchi initially is an attacking mid, while he may have been playing out of position, Bianchi was at top of tree as far as stats were concerned, he was always one or two seconds ahead of the other players at the time. Adryan has a lot of potential, a lot of fans said the same, he's still a kid. I like Adryan, the speed between his mind and his foot was a lot faster than the players in team at time, he would've been a great asset for us. Ronaldinho thinks the same and sees the potential in Adryan. We may one day regret letting him go. I've read where some aren't convinced by Ekuban, played in the Albanian super league on loan from Chievo, but Becchio came from a third or fourth tier league in Spain I think, the rest is history regarding Becchio, and he's in the top 10 all time league goal scorers for Leeds. Similar story with Beckford. Most wanted to get rid of Berardi when he first came to us, I copped a lot of crap cos I said he had potential to be a good defender for us, again, the rest is history regarding Berardi. Like you said, we have unproven foreigners, all we need is a bit of patience and allow the players to gel and unleash their skills, the cream will rise to top......
Sure Baird was already there,only lasted half that season as went to Boro,got a champions medal though as he had played over 13 games which I think was the qualifying point for a medal.
Only lost 2 defenders so far,if half of the 9 new guys come good and we get a good centre half we will be much stronger.
Don't remember Sellers being in Wilko's team,Wilko went for tough guys plus Strachan,Sellers was too light weight.

Fair enough LL, we know you have a higher opinion on some of those signings than most! Definitely don't agree re Bianchi, he looked several seconds slower than everyone else to me! He's back in serie B which seems to be his level. Adryan undoubtedly had talent, but was he ever a good fit for english football? Some wonderkids never come good. Whichever, they were signings people were getting excited about (adryan in particular)... that didn't work out, which was the main point... even if we disagree on why!
