In the recent international Lemar was the least impressive of the young frenchmen, and Englands right back that night was......
I don't fancy anyone in an Ar5ena1 shirt, Even the most dirty Nairobi whore I get to strip naked before I f*** them.
I think that Walker was greatly assisted by the rest of the defence. He had Dier Alderweirald and Vertonghen behind him and Wanyama in the middle, and was able to make his runs up the right. Manchester City do not yet have defenders of that quality and so I don't think he will be nearly as effective for them as he was for us. Provided we don't sell anyone else, well maybe Sissoko, we will not we weakened.. I also expect two or three academy player to make their mark next season
For a little while now I've wondered whether the greatest talent at our club isn't Mauricio Pochettino and his team. The change in fortunes for players like Walker, Rose, Alli, Dembele, Kane, Dier just shouldn't happen. Especially, as quickly as they have. Even more especially to a whole team becoming such a great balanced team. There's shades of Cloughie in the mercurial touch he seems to have. The fact that he did the same at Southampton shows it is no fluke. Given how his charges from there have performed since, I shall be very interested to see how Kyle will do away from MP's team and individual coaching. Nearly every Cloughie player was **** after they left his management. I'll exempt Mr Angry now, before angry hoardes of United fans who don't understand "Nearly every Cloughie player" descend on me.
There were some who went to Utd who did become sh&te overnight. Birtles and Davenport spring to mind. Anderson was OK. Some managers do get great things out of players who don't perform elsewhere - Cloughie made stars out of Burns, Robertson, Clark, Barrett, amongst others, who were journeymen at other clubs.
Again: let's not. Any more major departures will totally unsettle what is a very settled group of players. Dier goes, then Alli gets unhappy, then Eriksen gets a-wundrin', then Toby and Jan get itchy feet. Dissatisfaction is contagious in any work place, let alone one where there are promises of untold riches where the grass appears to be greener. Beyond this, having £110m sloshing around in Levy's vault is almost useless to us unless we plough it straight into the new stadium: for the simple reason that there will always be a massive discrepancy between what we can afford to pay as a fee, and what we can offer as wages. The caliber of player we'd need that amount of money for will 9 times out of 10 join a club that can blow us away with the salary offer. QED, 9 times out of 10 we will end up with a Soldado rather than an Aubameyang (sp?) - who, should he leave Dortmund, will logically expect to move somewhere where he'll earn around 200k a week. Thus, the fact that we can theoretically afford him is just that: a theory.
Apparently Barcelona have tabled a bid for Alli already so if he and Eriksen leave it won't be because Dier has left. Levy will just have to up the wages cap.
Given that the other Top 6 clubs earn more than £100m more than us at this point, where is this additional money coming from? United earn £300m more than Spurs, every year. Our income is much nearer West Ham's than the teams just below us.
I seem to recall Walker slagging off City and all of their fans after our narrow 3-2 loss up there (when the last gasp winner was scored by a bloke who shouldn't have been on the pitch).
I don't think we can victimise Kyle in all of this. Poch has said on at least 3 seperate occasions this summer that we will only sell the players we want to sell. QED for whatever reason(s), he actually wants to sell the lad. Right now we can't see beyond Kyle because he has been a mainstay of the club for the past 7 seasons, but ultimately: if Poch feels that he can improve that area of the team, we have to trust that decision. He has after all improved every other area beyond recognition...
Sorry to see walker go he has been a good servant at our club but if he is unhappy and wants to move back up north to be near his family then we get a good deal for £50 million and he won't be disrupting the dressing room by wanting away .I'd be more worried if it was Toby to be honest .I trust in poch to bring on Tripps to another level .I'm more worried about us playing next season at Wembley than walker leaving.COYS
The idea of strengthening City really disappoints me but I have to accept that it is how professional football has always been and I support Spurs who have been for many decades one of the big players in the transfer market. Sheffield United would have liked to have kept him I'm sure. Look at Southampton who have done more than most in producing young star footballers only to see them filched by bigger fish. I love the fact that we have produced such a good team under MP with a big input from our own academy and supply half the England team atm. We were all disappointed when Modric and Bale went but we have ended up with a better team than the Spurs they played for. Walker is a big hit but nothing like the potential loss of Bale , Modric, or even Carrick. I am never impressed with anything City or Chelsea do because they just buy their success same as the big Spanish or German clubs it's expected Bournemouth and Huddersfield have been far more impressive in my eyes than any of these big money players. This season I think we will miss WHL far more than we will miss Walker.
Don't know if anyone has noticed but the headline on the BBC website last night said 50mil for walker, this morning it has changed to 45 mil + add ons . Can't bring myself to actually read the article but has anything changed?
