With Siggy probably gone , Cork already transferred and Ki injured perhaps the American tour will allow Jay Fulton and Adam King the chance to stake a claim for the first team this season. I do hope so.

Selling Cork and Gylfi in the same window and relying on Fulton and King is madness.

Gylfi apparently told the club 45mins before flying to America that he wasn't going?

So much for not 'trying to leave' then <grr>

I never said relying I said perhaps. If we spend to replace Siggy, as I expect we will, the replacement will have been given the chance to start his career somewhere. It would give me more satisfaction to see our youngsters develop than spend big on a ready made "star" developed elsewhere.

His head was turned irrevocably when £135,000.00 per week was being talked about.
Time for the Club to play some hardball and give Everton, or whoever, an ultimatum. Pay £50 million, or look elsewhere.
We don't need this ongoing saga just as the new season is on us.
Everton are fast becoming a Club to loathe. Which is a pity since they used to be much respected.

But we will be relying on them during the pre season. I don't expect the club to have an already lined up replacement and we'll have been caught with our pants down again. As it stands, we'll be relying on them in USA.

Fully agree but I'd go further and demand £50m in one lump sum. If they want him that badly, make them pay the full amount upfront.

If Jenkins was still the man with the main say and I'm beginning to think he isn't, I would agree but surely anyone with some sort of commercial sense would have seen this coming and told our recruiters to be looking for what's available.

Nope, he's now told them he didn't want to go on the US tour, he'll be leaving

I'm not even convinced that you bid £40m tbh.

So Siggy decides not to go to America at some point after last evennings friendly then, coincidentally, the press are up with the birds this morning eager to get their headlines in early, that Evertons have made an official club record bid for Siggy of £40m.

Deal done and dusted they must have thought they'd got their man, but there's a sting in the tail as Talk Sport announce that 'Swansea City has turned down a record bid of £40m but waite, it has been reported that we'd already turned down a £40m bid from Leicester so what is the point of bidding it again, or are Everton still trying to bully us?

Blimey, I'm exhasted already and the season hasn't started yet.

Its obviouse now that Siggy has decided to go, it also obviouse that Siggys agent had to have called Everton sometime last evenning to tell them that Siggy wouldn't be on the plane to the States. Its the only way we could have woken up to the back page headlines we did this morning.

Even though Siggy wants to go it looks like our new owners are trying to goad Everton into paying through the nose by rejecting their club record offer of £40m, the same they rejected from Leicester.

Shame Siggy is going but its kinda good to see the owners demanding their pound of flesh for him. Hopefuly this will deter clubs from leaching off us in the future by trying to destabilizing our players.

So see ya Siggy and **** you Evertone, hope the money you pay for him hurts like hell. Never liked toffee anyway

The sooner he goes the better , refusing to travel on 50 k a week because he's head's in the shed is a load of bollocks and as much as he's been a great asset to us imo he'll be remembered not so much as when he went but why , MONEY, as it is with the majority of players .My only concern is how the Club spend the much needed funds to strengthen the squad , at least Clement will have had time to formulate a plan on who he has to replace and that has to be backed by the Board . I like a few on here will remember the wails for example when Stuart Roberts was sold to Wycombe for 100,000 ? . although not in the same class as Gylfi he was an asset but replaced as have every other player who's ever played or will play for the Club , gutted he's gone purely for knowing his ability but was he missed when we had Michu ?

A couple of local journo's who cover Everton are adamant that despite him being our prime target, there's been no bid made today by EFC and there's no bid been rejected.

    Strange

I think Everton, Siggy and his agent all thought it would be a done deal even though it was the same as one we'd already rejected from Leicester. Twats and good on the owners for shoving it up their arses.

Hope the owners hang out for the full £50m now becuase that will hurt Everton, they may even balk at that amount, but if they don't I see many red faced scousers choking and spluttering as they hand over the cash.
