Dunno what is going on with that lol. Heard it's because he had a knee op at the end of the year and no one wants to buy him without him doing a medical which he can't yet as he's recovering. I ****ing hope we get someone soon though. I don't fancy having Kante and Matic in the middle of the park again. Dare i say someone like Pogba would be ideal for us. Haven't really seen Bakayoko play so i can't really comment how good i think he is. I wouldn;'t mind Chalobah getting some gametime too. He's looked neat and tidy when he's come on
Sanchez is an amazing player but even more unsuited for the way Mouriniho plays. Would be hilarious if it happens.
Depends if you count foreign as non English or non UK. We have definitely fielded an entirely non English side before, but think we've always had a British player in the starting XI. Giggs, Evans, Fletcher etc have helped in the past, although since Evans and Paddy McNair left we haven't really had any non English Brits in the squad.
I think you have been too traumatised by your record transfer (of £50m ?) from another English club for you to even think about this...
yeah i know. I can't believe we're letting all our youth go again. Gutted about this. Its the way of the top teams nowadays (tbf we've been doing this for years) so i was hoping conte was going to change that
I'd have Dier over Matic 100%, definitely. Added to him being, in my opinion, better than Matic he can also play at centre half so is more versatile. Not that that would be why he would be taken on of course, but it increases our options given how fragile our centre of defence has been of late. I don't buy all this United fan bollocks but it does look a very likely transfer given he can double his wages, he knows he's replacing someone who is 36 so won't have to wait for his chance and is more or less a shoe in to the first team. As has already been frequently said, will Spurs open the can of worms that is giving Dier over 100k a week? Highly unlikely.
Put Chris Smalling into the deal I reckon, if they'll pay £30m for Sissoko we'll have no trouble getting £20m for Smalling.
Tbh he's been saying he's a Utd fan for years. Doesn't mean he'll move to us, but it's not some ****e made up on the spot to try and convince ourselves the transfer will happen. That said, as you say it's probably more whether Spurs will go for his wage demands. It would open a can of worms, but they've got to do something to prove they actually intend to be a big club. If they let Dier go for wage reasons, it's only a matter of time before Kane, Alli et al realise they will never get the big money at Spurs, or win the big prizes as a result, and thus start looking for the exit.
So the current line up of midfielders United supposed to be chasing is Matic Dier Perisic Naingollan Fabinho Bakayoko (EDIT: I had missed Bakayoko. ) Ok. Which is likely to happen and who would you like to bring in? I wouldn't mind Naingollan. He looks the sort of aggressive midfielder that we've missed sometimes.
In terms of longevity, it has to be Dier or Fabinho to add to the young squad we are building, for that DM role. Perisic seems inevitable now, perhaps about as inevitable as Griezmann seemed. I'd take Matic if we could somehow shaft Chelsea again and send Conte into a season-long meltdown.
I think I'm one of the few who are happy to keep Fellaini, and that's a complete U-turn on my thoughts after that Everton game last season. I saw enough at the back end of the season to warrant him a squad place imo, he was almost perfect against Chelsea and I think if Jose can get more of those performances from him in bigger games, looking at the side we are putting together, his physical attributes suggest he may be worth keeping hold of.
We seem to be going for the same players My view is that unless Chelsea gets Bakayoko we won't get Matic.
Perisic and either Dier or Fabinho. Perisic is the only one of the those listed who is actually a winger / AM and thus needed to replace Rooney and give us more options up front. For the DM/CMs, I'd be a bit wary of Nainggolan - midfielders coming into the PL from overseas can take some time to adjust, so buying a 29 year old could mean he's over the hill by the time he catches us. Dier has the PL experience and Fabinho is young enough, and both are more flexible than Matic and Bakayoko and carry a greater goal threat. Fairly indifferent between the two - Dier has the obvious benefit of being English and experienced in the PL, but Fabinho is probably the slightly better player and with the CL experience. Either signing alongside Perisic would make me a happy man, particularly if we can sort it in the next week or two and get our business done.
