Don't all potential new signings go through the "black box" process??......so with that in mind the club feel the opposite way.?
I would be interested as any if we get some more players in, but I'm wondering if Saints feel the team is strong enough if no one leaves...with a potential sale on the horizon. It may be thought that Mauricio will get more out of the squad we have. Remember that the club thinks more long term than the average fan....they can tolerate another safe season, whereas fans often go hysterical if they feel we aren't chasing the CL every season. We may be in for a quiet window...few sales, few buys.
What I like about the current squad is it's quite 'safe'. Allows us to take a few risks on an attacking player or two (to replace J-Rod and add goals?) knowing that if it doesn't work we can be very competative with what we have. Obviously if Bertrand and/or VVD go then we look quite a bit less 'safe'!
I have a feeling Les has told / asked the players to give MP2 an opportunity in Austria (to prove himself / show his worth) before he'll even discuss any potential moves. Maybe that's why VVD & Ryan have gone a bit quiet?
I'm right with all these anti-lightweight signings. Let's just sign Andy Carrol, forget Messi and be done with it. Hoof it up there quickly and get on with it. #blueink
It isn't long term thinking not to improve the areas of the squad in which we are light. However, if we do keep everyone together then I think this would have to go down as a positive summer, no matter who might come in. Also, where and even if we are light will depend on exactly how MP2 plays.
