I think you credit Phelan with far more common sense than he has. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was exactly what he said.
I don't disagree, but his pure size, speed and strength would be an asset. Those types of strikers usually tend to do well in this division.
Defo rumour from a friend of a friend of a friend etc supposed to be from Crystal Palace ..... is Remy heading north
I'd love us to sign Remy, but Chelsea want to flog him and I can't see us stumping up enough cash, he's supposed to be off to Turkey.
Realistic in today's world. Our suppoessed offer of £6 million is a joke, and probably explains why we only have one (loan) signing to date
If that's the going rate for someone showing 6 months of potential then I don't want us to pay the going rate.
Watford have signed Daniel Bachmann from Stoke and Sam Howes from West Ham (Howes is only 19, so an U23's signing).
Still can't see them having an obvious first choice, Gomes isn't up to it anymore. I'd hold out if I was Jak.
Me too. I can't see even Ehab making a random decision to spend on any player, let alone one he would never have heard of. Phelan was the manager at that time, either he chose Marshall or he missed the chance to veto him. Ehab would have jumped at the chance to not spend the money. The same applies to all the players bought in that window. They were Phelans choice, even if Brucie had mentioned them Phelan had the chance to say no. Whatever ****ups Ehab has made, this one can't be laid at his door.
We have no idea whether he had the chance to say no or not, they were certinaly Steve Bruce's targets... Transfers lined up by Bruce and his backroom staff have not been completed and his usual positivity and enthusiasm for the job have been crushed by the weeks of frustration. He wanted to sign Nick Powell from Manchester United, who ended up at Wigan, and Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu, a free agent. He wanted to sign Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall and Lorient’s Cameroon striker Benjamin Moukandjo and felt these deals were in a position to be done. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...nders-Premier-League-plans.html#ixzz4mciRdWfF Tottenham's Ryan Mason on radar of Hull City, says Steve Bruce http://www.espn.co.uk/football/stor...-mason-on-radar-of-hull-city-says-steve-bruce
--- unfounded 'friend of a friend' rumour alert that won't surprise anyone --- My mate works with someone whose wife is an estate agent and says theyve put THudds house on the market. It's on the sly so there won't be a ****-off for sale sign outside. Ends.
Sells of ehab baulking at transfer costs this window cant see us getting too much done , probably be a scrabble towards the end for cheap last minute options Regarding the keepers, we have too many. Too much wage going into that position, most sellable asset is jakupovic, so be it if we can flog him and elmo for £6m great stuff, the only problem im having is that the funds rcieved seem to be going straight in allams pockets and not being reinvested We should be making big statements of intent like wolves have with reuben neves, be savvy build a team now thats got a chance of staying up in the prem
10m plus Marshall should see the deal completed though to be fair I've never heard of him until I heard we was interested and put a bid in. Seen the highlights on Youtube looks strong with a decent left peg but nothing special are certainly not worth 15m
We should be looking at players that are out of favour with their current clubs. Marco did a great job with Niasse and Lazar. Ross McCormack would be my shout....Brucey can't stand him and we might be able to do a deal with them for Elmo...bonus!
