I think you credit Phelan with far more common sense than he has. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was exactly what he said.
I don't disagree, but his pure size, speed and strength would be an asset. Those types of strikers usually tend to do well in this division.

Me too. I can't see even Ehab making a random decision to spend on any player, let alone one he would never have heard of. Phelan was the manager at that time, either he chose Marshall or he missed the chance to veto him. Ehab would have jumped at the chance to not spend the money. The same applies to all the players bought in that window. They were Phelans choice, even if Brucie had mentioned them Phelan had the chance to say no. Whatever ****ups Ehab has made, this one can't be laid at his door.

We should be looking at players that are out of favour with their current clubs. Marco did a great job with Niasse and Lazar. Ross McCormack would be my shout....Brucey can't stand him and we might be able to do a deal with them for Elmo...bonus!
