I went to Elm Park in the late 80's and they had about 3000 at the game. Just goes to show how quickly these plastic clubs pop up.
Our average gates back in the 50s and early 60s were around the 5,000 mark, in the lower divisions you tend to get lower gates. We'll be back to that level soon the way things are going...
The clock ticks on ... and ... nothing happening. But we must be on the chirpy side... this can continue until August 31st. Come on lads it's a new management approach. Cheer up!
I remember when all the whinging and moaning was because we were doing our business loadly and all over the press and finishing up paying stupid money for has beens and never beens, Now because it seems we being quite and stealthy everybody moaning we ain't doing Jacks**t ................... It appears you cannot please all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time and some of the people can't be pleased at all, ever, never. Hold the faith guys and gals you never know what uncles Les, Ollie and Tony have got up their collective sleeves.
I won't labor the point Sooper but I was talking about the 80's. Agree lower League generally attracts less supporters. I was just pointing out how they went from A to B overnight. I hope you are wrong about our level but I think you may be right.
When we got relegated in 96 it had a big effect on our gates. Just when Sky took off properly and football was becoming big again. We missed the boat there. If at that time we had stayed in the Prem and got a new ground I reckon our gates would be a lot bigger.
Yep, success brings success. And with more money going in at the Premier end, promoted Championship sides will find it harder to stay up. Burnley did well to be the only promoted club to claw on by its fingernails, helped by Sunderland, a club that appears to have been mismanaged almost as badly as us.
it's amazing what Bournemouth has achieved and fair play to them. Just goes to show even a very small club if run properly and get a decent manager can do good things. Sadly, on the contrary to what some think, we are a basket case and are not run very well. Just compare Eddie Howe to 'Hollow"?
Low mileage, driven slowly, collectors limited edition. Always garaged. Well hey? I had to post something on here. Certainly no player movement.
