Hey, usually a guest here but thought I'd give this forum thing a go!

    ---

"Nottingham Forest and Leicester have made £3million bids for Everton striker Jermaine Beckford."

With all the talk of us being linked with Maynard and Rodriguez and their valuations being too high, why don't Saints enter this supposed 'race' for Beckford? He's quick, scores goals and proved so often for Leeds he could be a real match winner at times. There were questions over his attitude towards the end of his Leeds career, but it could be said he's ambitious, much like Saints and the above mentioned. At £3m I think it could be a real bargain and could be perfect to play beside Lambert with his movement.

Only thing is I read it in the Daily Mail (know for being unreliable), but to be fair I haven't really looked to see if it's cross-referenced anywhere else yet.

    Thoughts?

    Hey Luke
Welcome to the Saints board. Glad you have decided to join us. Don't forget to tell your friends about the site, no matter who they support all are catered for on here. Any problems contact one of us mods and we will do what we can to help. Enjoy.........<ok>
As for Beckford Nah he is not for the likes of us also he would be quite costly and not be better than we already have. Also I don't think Everton would part with him any way.......

Yikes, no way. He always thought himself too good for League 1 and the Championship, I imagine if he dropped back down into this division after being in the prem, he'll think everyone owes him a favour. Avoid.

He's a terrible finisher, his shots/goals ratio is worse than CMS.

I can't remember a Saints side having such unity in years. Can't see Beckford helping with that at all. Exactly who we don't need.

Everton will not sell him unless they receive a very high bid, leicester are wasting their time if they are only bidding 3m

Beckford would cause nothing but unrest. If we were foolish enough to sign him within 6 months we would have another Puncheon nightmare on our hands. 100% NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Urgh, no thanks..remember him a couple of seasons back when we won 1 nil against Leeds? Falling down like he'd been shot every 2 minutes.

Don't need that in the team thanks.

We are looking for players who can go progress with us into the premier league, not ones who have already demonstrably failed at that level. He's an overated prima donna and not for us.

    Welcome to the site Luke.

No way do I want Beckford. Everton can keep him, or Forest/Leicester can have him. Do not want him. We don't need big ego's at this club.

No thanks......i have watched him a couple of times and was not impressed at all, we already have better IMO plus we dont need a player that rolls around as though a sniper in row Z has shot him.............
