According to Goal.com, the deal is "very near completion" and should be finalised in the next 48 hrs. They claim that Levy has also managed to negotiate a £12mm buy option for the end of the season.
Let's all hope they've got this one right!

NSIS apparently the two clubs have agreed a 50-50 split in his wages.

Yeah. It seems that the wage split was the main hold up in the deal. Hopefully, it's all sorted, now!!

Fine if there's a realistic buy option at the end of the loan, which would have to include Adebayor accepting a massive pay cut, otherwise it's desperation stuff again! Building on sand doesn't do it for me and we are doing just that if we are relying on a loan player to fill a key position.

Disagree. If Adebayor helps get us into the CL, we should be able to attract another top striker for next year (if not Adebayor himself). Good use of a loan imo.

Agreed. There's far less competent, and dangerous strikers, that are being sold for absolute silly money. If Harry can successfully integrate him, and he doesn't get up to his usual antics, then I think we've got an absolute bargain, for a striker of his capability.

+1. This is what we should be doing this year. If we don't get CL this year then we're likely to lose Modders and Bale anyway so no point being stuck with people on large wages permanently with no CL revenue and no big stadium.
We missed the opportunity to cement our CL place last summer and to an extent in jan. If we can sneak back in we need to grasp the opportunity at signing biggies then.

Agree with Harrys- if getting a top striker is beyond us a the moment a loan will have to do and if it works out then we have saved millions on possibly the wrong player.
And if we qualify into next seasons CL then we can get what we need.

He doesn't fill me with the greatest confidence, sorry lads. Harry was at Twente so let's wait and see. I know we need a striker or two but it has to be the right players.

i'm in 2 minds over this. I agree with what every one has said so far.

Only signing Adebayor could be as bigger risk as spending £30 mill on a striker like Llorente, for example.

Adebayor is a fantastic striker on his day, but his attitude is a liability.

We've already sold Keane, and crouch looks like he could be on his way if reports are true. That in mind, having Adebayor, Defoe and Pavlyuchenko would not fill me with too much confidence. - the only positive being that our strikers can't be any worse than last season.

if Adebayor doesn't produce the goods, we then have to wait till january where we'd have to pay above market prices, which would be worse than us spending the money now.

at the end of this season, we're faced with losing bale and modric if we don't progess to the CL. even if we do, we could still lose them anyway. I'd rather we spent the money now to stand a better chance of getting into the CL next season, so that even if these two players leave, we'll have CL status to attract replacements.

at the same time, i don't want to see us waste 30 odd mill.

    massive catch 22.

At the end of the day Adebayor is still better than anything we have so while its not the improvement that some want at least we are moving forward.

Adebayor is a very good player and better than anything we have... if on sale he to would be around the 20mil mark. Harry will sort his attitude out and anyway we need a bit of attitude, he's the type of personality that will love the Spurs fans getting at him and he will prove to be a very clever loan signing and possible buy at the end of the season.... very clever Harry and Mr Levy!

How will we, as fans, treat him on his first game though.... i think a sarcastic 'boo' will make him play all the better and prove himself!

imagine him scoring against L'Arse!!!!.... legends are made of this!

What is going to be different about next season compared to the last one, (even if we do take a CL place), when it comes to signing top players? We needed a new striker last year and couldn't sign one because we don't meet the extortionate wage demands that top players make.

I'm really against loan signings and I'm sad that my club sees a temporary solution as the only way in which they can compete, especially as the so-called answer to all of our prayers is a reject from one of the teams with which we are hoping to compete!

If Levy really has got a £12mm buy option. Why do you think it's so cheap? For me, it's in recognition of the wages problem. Adebayor, for all his well documented problem baggage is a top class striker. He's still only 27. Normally strikers of that age and calibre would sell for at LEAST double that amount.
I mean, Carroll £35mm - Darren Bent - £24mm - or Adebayor? To me, it's a no-brainer. And, if he doesn't fit in, all we've spent is his wages.
If there was a striker of comparable ability out there, going for sensible money, you'd probably get trampled in the stampede, anyway. But, I'm sure Levy would be in there, if he existed.

Yup, lets show our ambitions to Modric and Bale by saying we don't have the guts to pay out to sign a proper striker so we'll have a journeyman mercenary off of one of our supposed rivals - that'll make em want to stay even if we get the CL next season, won't it....

better than outlaying stupid money just because you can.
Rather have a proven goalscorer than an expensive new player with no experience in English football who is probably the last one available.
    Rant over!

I agree, and I repeat. If there was a top striker of comparable ability out there, for sensible money, then I wpould say let's go for him. The truth is, there isn't - and even if there was, we'd still have to convince him to come to Spurs, with our wage structure as it currently is.
Realistically, this is, by far, the best option.
