We must have another one lined up somewhere - Basil and Camjam won't be enough for a long and gruelling season. Appreciate OneShot and Watkins can also play in the striker role but we do need proper striker cover there imo.
Think this time last year we didn't make any signings yet, only 11th of July and we've already signed 6 players, that's how to do business.
I think we'll predominantly play with one "proper" striker, so Oliveira and Jerome with Watkins, Naismith and Wildschut should be plenty. Webber said the other day we wanted a LB, CB and Howson replacement, so I think we're down to 2 incoming now. Maybe a young striker on loan, but I think any permanent business in this area will surely rely on selling somebody.
Oh........... With these players who we just ship out on loan every season, shouldn't we just release them and let them build a career. We end up releasing them anyway and a Championship club benefits from them. We should just cut to the chase, and let them go. It's unfair on the players. Was really hoping Morris would be a bench/cup player for us at least this season. So is that down to 2 strikers at the club left?! Both of them, potentially under bids from rivals?
We have a LB, and I really like this player. He's decent! I wanted him a few seasons ago before he moved to....Boro or someone? He's a proper Wing-Back type, but he can defend as well!
He only signed a new contract with us through til 2020 in January, but I've no doubt this is a make or break season for Morris. He did ok in the SPL, but has struggled to make an impact anywhere else. If he can't impress enough to be a first choice striker in league 1 this season, how can he have a future here? I think it's the right move though, as you said he'd only be considered for the bench or cups here, if he's ever going to make it he needs to be playing 30+ games this season. I think it's unfair to criticise the club for hanging on to youngsters and loaning them out a lot. Really it's only Morris, Toffolo and Matthews who fit that category. I expect this season to be crucial for all of them.
They are the remaining ones in the squad at the moment yes. Who haven't been released yet. Maybe Thompson if he was going to loaned out before his injury.
Farke on James Husband signing: http://readnorwich.com/2017/07/11/farke-says-husband-is-the-perfect-fit-for-norwich/
I'm pretty sure that without their loan spells to Coventry & M K Dons, the two Murphy boys wouldn't be at their current levels. If Morris is going to step up a grade, regular game time will do far more for him than the odd sub appearance and a checkatrade cup match or two.
Husband - cheap option let's hope it works out for him and NCFC. I wonder if Naismith is regarded as a striker with the bosses? Jacob M to go for £10/£11m and the money put away for a rainy day. Is the Huddersfield model going to work for NCFC? I have my doubts.
Yes, Husband is cheap. But it's not a "cheap option" I think about 1M for him is very good business. He's a very good LB/LWB. I think fans will like him.
Don't know and I may regret saying it, but one of the good thing about Jerome is that he rarely seems to get injured.
Joel Obi anyone? Not exactly a glowing report of his ability or recent displays in this piece. http://readnorwich.com/2017/07/12/norwich-make-contact-over-joel-obi/
Couldn't agree more. I think players that don't get injured often is a hugely underrated attribute. Hardly ever gets mentioned (unlike "made of glass" players). He is also of course a 20-goal Championship level striker. Aren't too many of those flying around on the cheap (or even on the not so cheap).
Joel Obi linked. When googling him, there was an article saying he was the highest paid Nigerian footballer in Italian top flight. We aren't matching that.
Well there were only 6 Nigerians registered to Serie A sides last season, and the only ones who made appearances were Obi at Torino, then a player at Crotone and one at Bologna. So I don't think we can read too much into that.
