Didn't find anything from The Final Cut that I liked or The Wall, or The Division Bell. I never connected with Roger Waters' anger. I've got Dave Gilmour's first solo album but I never play it these days. I think I remember liking it - that's about it. Perhaps I ought to put a track up and see if it takes. [Pause] Yeah, I remember this one. There's No Way Out Of Here. I know how he feels. I think this album might join Sting's Dream Of Blue Turtles as a give away: So, you've read it. Anyone who wants one or both of those albums for free can PM me. Bet there are no takers.
Just occurred to me that an anniversary has passed - July 3 1971 and Jim died. There will never be another one etc. People usually post "The End" or whatever, but Roadhouse Blues is another side of the band. Love this recording, particularly Jim's opening. Loved the guy - still do.
Talking of Trump, I love this Dylanesque protest style song that came out during last year's Presidential Election....
Mmm if this is you, then a few of us may be a tad jealous: LOVE was very much in the air for Holly Willoughby and husband Dan Baldwin as they put on a cosy display at a British Summer Time gig at the weekend. The stunning This Morning presenter cuddled up to her husband of ten years as they watched Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty in London’s Hyde Park.
I love Landslide. She did a brilliant version of Edge of 17 too which is one of my favourites I like most of what Tom has done over the years, but this is probably my favourite He played about 2 hours last night, including one number where Stevie Nicks sang the vocal (he describes her as the honorary female member of the band) Great gig, enjoyed the whole day
She was only cuddling up to her husband because I knocked her back, again. I really must take out a restraining order if she's going to follow me around the country like this
Blimey I'd forgotten she sang with the Strawbs! Yes, just like Fairport, they lost a big chunk of their soul when she departed.
I plan to go back to N'awlins again one day. Had an amazing couple of days there back in the early 90s - so much great music ........... and beignets at Cafe du Monde at around 4 in the morning .......
And .... before anyone jumps in ..... I know N'awlins is in Louisiana and not Mississippi. I was relating to the fab blues stuff ......
For years I've been sort of planning a trip to Tennessee taking in both Nashville and Memphis. An American friend keeps telling me I have to take in The Big Easy too. Seems a bit out of the way to me, but apparently it's less than 6 hours on the Interstate!
Never made it to Nashville or Memphis (both on the list .....). Went across the Smokies from N Carolina to Pigeon Forge (big mistake - redneck country and home to Dollywood ) but was with family so had to do as I was told I'd thoroughly recommend the Big E - though I've heard it's changed since Katrina paid them a visit .....
"The future's uncertain and the end is always near..." That one line sums up Jim's whole philosophy on life and death. I miss him too Lambo.
I'm partial to a little Hillbilly music too. I would probably try to avoid Trump as topic of conversation though, if I ever got up in those mountains. Bet the scenery was fantastic btw.
