Rom got the Everton goal when we beat them 3-1 at the Lane..we were 3 up by then...that was a big goal, only one of 9 conceded at home by Spurs all season

You must've forgot about your club's apology to Southampton about Virgil Van Dijk then.

If think the definition of big goals is when you need one to win a game in a tight game.

No I haven't forgotten, I was making the point it happens all the time. Southampton are just grasses.

Sorry Matth but if that tweet is true then that's tapping up. It happens, get over it. We had no choice but to apologise or face sanctions (even though now the FA say they don't have enough evidence to do anything).

If it's tapping up, How come Everton didn't make a fuss about it, That's what I don't understand.

Southampton did the right thing in my opinion.

That 40k-150k is ridiculous though, of course that'd be the case, for any player, the difference is stupid. I'd play for Liverpool over United for that sort of difference, but that's not the difference we're talking about surely? You lot weren't offering less wages, according to the reports we just paid his agent more.

We've come nowhere near to challenging for some of the trophies you're right, just like you were even further away in 15/16. I don't see how our ambition can't close that gap in the same time it took Chelsea.

Moyes got what he asked of the players, he brought small club mentality here and that's how the players performed.

I think they didn't make a fuss because they wanted to sell regardless...with VVD....he wants to leave, they don't want to sell though..therefore Southampton protested.

Probably because they've been guilty of it before. Every team taps up from time to time.

Combine money, football and egos and you expect it.

The only reason VVD got so many headlines is because of the circumstances. Tapping up is so common. Suarez even came to Melwood recently to personally try and get Coutinho to sign for Barca (cheeky ****er!).

Whilst this is a concern of mine, I can't let myself get carried away by it, he played for Everton and they don't really have the big games that you're referring to.

As you well know, I meant that United are miles away from winning it NOW, which is why he won't come back. Now calm down.

Hard to go into it because obviously its all hypothetical. I was just making a point although in an extreme manner than wages are a big factor and i would say the defining factor if there was a big difference. If you're on 150k, then 20k-30k probably isn't going to be the deciding factor between clubs. If ones offering 150 compared to 100 then i think it would (obviously this isn't the case between Chelsea and United, both are loaded, they will get what they ask for).

Most important (to a certain extent)
    1. Wages

    The next level of stuff
    2. Challenging for trophies - i will define this as the big trophies (CL, Europey, PL), having won it recently (i won't put a time period) and/or been up there challenging for it or at least be seen to be challenging (like spurs).
    2. Prestige of the club - Some clubs are just more supported and have more history. Real, barca, Juve, Liverpool, United, BM. I'd say since Roman has taken over we're kind of in limbo land, a lot more overseas support and have won the CL and PL a lot more but obviously not as famous as the ones mentioned.
    2. I think a manager plays a big part in players wanting to play for them if they are a big name. I wouldn't say Conte is a big name on the continent (massive in italy). Even United couldn't sign players with Moyes in Charge

Not that important but will play a part if all the above are close to equal
    3. Location

Just my opinion, doesn't mean i'm right or wrong and some players are a different kettle of fish (see spurs players who are loving the project under poch). I reckon generally my above pretty accurate

No we're not done, you are. I dare say that Ronaldo is on a pretty astronomical wage.

That we would easily surpass at United in both salary and exposing him to a larger market. <ok>

Sorry mate, but the reason Ronnie is at Real Madrid is because he dreamed of playing for them growing up and I dare say Messi's is driven by loyalty given the way Barca helped him through his early years with his health etc.
