Even I couldn't claim her dancing to come from my genes..... Although that's not what I tell her Yes Fran, very proud, but she's going to cost me a fortune.
Just for a change of pace, here's half past midnight in northern Norway. Never fails to astonish me how bright it is when it is very dark in the UK [OK, there's still the tiniest bit of natural light kicking around even in Southampton, and it is half past eleven here]. But I still find it wowee: https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/norge/nordland/lofoten/henningsvaer.html BTW, if you do intend to click on this link, it's rather pointless if you do it during the natural UK daytime. Either do it now or in approximately 24 hours intervals from now.
I went to the Shetland islands for work at least 25 years ago. As it was cheaper I travelled up on a Saturday (I remember as it was the Scottish Cup final). There wasn't much on the TV in the evening and as I had a really comfy window seat I decided to read for a while. I finally had to put the book down when it got a bit too dark to read comfortably - it was 11:35pm!!
Yes, some years ago I visited a friend in Carnwath, Lanarkshire, during early September, and was astonished that there was still just a bit of natural light at 23.30. In September, for petes sake.!
Captain Henshaw dead.! That's a rewrite that doesn't sit well. He's supposed to have got an offer from the Welsh mines that was too good to turn down. Damn it, I knew they were building up his character so as to make me care.
Went to switch banks to cash in on the bonus, but was told you have to have an Adult account to switch, I had a Student so gave up.
Thought for the Day. Wherever I go I get served by nice, pleasant people...often willing to have a little joke or pleasantry. I have never come across the difficult people that others encounter...could it be that I treat them well, so they treat me the same.
On the whole yes. I go out of my way to support checkout staff especially as I often see them rudely treated, sadly usually by people of my generation. Free free to test your patience with 'moaning Mona' from our local OneStop though. She throws your change at you, refuses to communicate in anything other than grunts or 'no' and is only known to smile if customer's debit card is refused. I was watching the staff in a Wetherspoons this morning (coffee 1.10, free refills and wi-fi ) Bloody brilliant. Coping with arguments, complex and unreal breakfast demands, and a certain amount of elderly forgetfulness. All done with smiles, competence and no doubt on min wage.
In most cases I agree Fran. I usually encounter good service and would say it is because I treat them well. I occasssionally receive poor service and that is down to those individuals.
I wouldn't bother Fats, you'll miss the rain. Air temp here today 38, in the street 45. I thought I'd check the temp in the greenhouse, picked up the thermometer and it exploded all over me (only went up to 55C)
No, the Ferndown one. Where there's a little queue to buy the first beer at 9am, they get very upset at 0901 if some elderly lady is taking just a bit too long deciding if it's one sausage or two today.
Not been to that one yet . I was a little worried that the Wimborne one would impact on local cafes , but as far as I can tell the other cafes are doing fine , and it does offer something for families . Cloisters etc are usually crowded .
Don't go to Wetherspoons much, but was impressed when I was out with a vegetarian and a woman on a diet. Found something on the menu for all of us.
