Allow me to recommend a trip to The Broadway Cafe in Muswell Hill, should you ever find yourself in North London (it has been alleged that you never go near N London, but that can't be true can it?).

    Anyway, you won't be disappointed.

  4. I used grew up in North London. Haven't been back for a while. All of the Spurs games I have been over the past decade or so have been sat in the away end of other grounds.

Is it a recent thing for them to have a verb before the given name?

Is "Grew Up" a herbal tonic? .. are you still taking it? ... if so, don't stop; the effects have to kick in soon, surely? <laugh>

I thought it was one of the requirements of signing up.

  13. I went to Risley Avenue School and then Tottenham School (formerly Tottenham Grammar School). The former still exists, but the latter was ripped down years ago.

My family moved away when I was 13.

It was the best day of my life.

It's annoying how many times I have to get it out to sign up for things. You think the bank would accept a passport as proof of identity these days.

I lived in Wood Green for years. That was a bit rough, shall we say, but we considered N17 an area best avoided. I remember watching Broadwater Farm burn from the balcony of my flat on Bounds Green Road. Went into Wood Green the next morning and there were cozzers everywhere, like an army of occupation.

My best mate lived in Bruce Grove, back in the day. Had a few lost nights ending in the Mecca Ballroom on the High Road. I have some fond memories of the area - including daytime pub crawls along the River Lea - but I wouldn't have wanted to bring my kids up round there.

  18. We lived on Mount Pleasant Road, just round the corner from Bruce Grove. I used to love to pop into Bruce Grove Park and feed bread to the ducks on the pond, and nip into the museum. Don't know if it's still there.

My mum used to go shopping in Wood Green. We kids would often be dragged along, on the 243 bus. Or we'd go to Turnpike Lane on the 123.

I doubt you'd recognise Wood Green now though - it looks like Mogadishu

I live the other side of this...

A million miles away really. Or 10 minutes on the W3 bus.
