There would be a bigger gap but for a loose headrest and a dodgy gearbox. That's racing of course, but the size of the gap doesn't always tell the whole story.

So the badly inflated tyres and blown old engine Bottas got don't get to count then?
    Why is that?

At least he had his steering wheel.
and is it a problem with the electronics, or a problem with Kimi?

Beginning to think he has no idea what is on his wheel.

I feel a bit sorry for Grosjean, he had an excellent race but didn't seem to get a mention, unlike the WIlliams and FI behind him.

The only reason Lewis isn't further ahead is because somebody forgot to clip in his headrest...

Not as thick as you are if you felt that wasn't a slap on the wrist.

The only reason he's so far ahead is because they wrongly inflated Bottas' tyres when he won pole and then let him use a duff engine that exploded in the race.

I'm not surprised you didn't mention it though, sort of ****s up your argument.

**** happens to every driver over the course of a season, but it's still the one with the most points who wins. Technical probs are all part of the sport.

There is always a counter "what if".

I'm the first to point out how Raikonnen is currently stealing a living. Comprehensively outclassed by Alonso and Vettel, and even got his arse beat by Massa in 08 after his very fortunate title win in 2007.

He used to be a great character and feisty racer but he has been poor for a long time now.

I've always thought he's been a bit hit or miss, he has a few good races in a season, but mostly he's mediocre. I don't really think he's that interested in anything other than the money, he could've waived his wages at Lotus, but decided not to bother racing instead. I don't think there's another drover on the grid that would've done that.
As to his current problems, my thoughts are he can't be arsed to learn all the settings, so when he has any sort of problem he doesn't know what to do without help, and that costs time.

If this level of performance wasn't good enough, he wouldn't have been re-signed the last three years of exact level.

They'll say a few words, Kimi will have a good race in Hungary and pick up a 2018 contract.

Won't happen this time. I'd even put money on it. Perez, Grosjean or Sainz in.

Has to be. Grosjean in pole position with Haas but Perez has good links to Ferrari and I think many teams on the grid would like Sainz. Negotiating with RBR/ToroRosso might be tricky though.

Part of me wonders if Sainz might end up at Renault with Hulk as some sort of deal with Renault engines. RBR are in a bit of a pickle really given that they bad mouthed Renault and now have to deal with a works team! I suspect Renault might say give us Carlos and we'll give you equal engines...?!

Wasn't Max quoted as saying he wants to drive for Ferrari next season? If so then that'll move Sainz up, though I don't know what STR's options are when that happens.

Jos pretty adamant his kid is staying at Redbull for another season. But we won't see Kimi next season, it's sad to see a driver decline I have experienced it before. Even as a fan it is clear now he has to go. Look at Seb's and Kimi's relative positions on the board...

I think that Bottas would be unlucky not to get a new contract. He's been quick, consistent and not really got involved in much drama. His average qualifying position is 2.3 compared with Hamiltons 3.1, so he's right up there week after week. I suppose the only question mark is how marketable he is.
