So Bottas only a few points behind Hamilton in drivers chanpionship. And everyone said he wouldn't be close to challenging at start of season.

It's really only because of Hamilton's problems and penalties. Close though

However Bottas is doing a really good job. Anyone with half a brain could see he had the speed to put a fast car at the front, whether he could be a regular pole sitter and race winner was another thing but he is showing he's got the head and race craft / skill for it

Watched TdF Stage 9 on playback ... Aru is a **** for what he did. Shows he doesn't think he's got the wheels to beat the big guys mano e mano

Even so, it's not 100% luck when it comes to penalties and problems. Maybe he has a smoother driving style which results in less issues with the cars etc.

Could be, lots of variables involved meaning that we as outsiders don't know the full deal like the teams obviously do through the data they collect for example

Yeah, sometimes it is just pure bad luck, but i'd imagine even things like using curbs more (especially at Austria they said) can causes damage to the curb etc so you never know if it's bad luck or if one driving just looks after their car a lot more.

Still think it'll be between Vettel and Hamilton, but nice to have a potential 3 way challenge and would be interesting to see what Merc do towards end of season if both of them are still up there challenging.

The thing was today the tyres were blistering and I reckon bottle just looked after his excellently.

Perez in the force India absolutely robbed vettel 2 laps out though. Vettel lost over a half second when he had been in Drs range and still got back on bottles.

    Interesting end to race there.

Hamilton tried the long game and it nearly got him 3rd but ricciardo was tough.

Overall it was a mildly interesting race.

Attacking when Froome had his 'mechanical'? Yeah, not seen it yet but heard it mentioned. Aru didn't get much support I hear <laugh>

He's a talent though and could be a danger to Froome.

Edit : Apparently Aru then slowed for the yellow jersey so fair do's

I like it when they turn those spinny things attached to their feet really fast. The ones that spin them faster are the best.
