    That's football fans in general. Most players that were lauded here, that then went on to bigger clubs suddenly became average in the eyes of a lot of Saints fans.

    I don't think anyone he been touchy on here for your visit this time Skylarker. You honestly expect to visit another teams board, post about one of their players leaving to join your club and not have some people put you right?

    I'd say the touchy fans are those that have been living in the shadow of their fiercest rivals for 25 years, not winning a league they expect to dominate and possibly getting itchy as their local rivals seem to be wanting to eclipse them too :)

    We get used to it with you visitors though. Once you're told what's what, you fall back on the "touchy"/"precious" line..... you don't double up as that Hoddle is a Hoddle is a God bloke do you? <laugh>

    Signed a contract. We pay him. He will always have a big club in for him. End of the day it's his employers decision not his. We've said he won't go, if we stay true to our word then he stays. He goes on strike? Put him in the reserves, although in a World Cup year, a year without a competitive match might not look great when trying to get into the squad.

    As my friend said this week
    "Van Dijk holds a card. Southampton holds the deck".

    Sadly saintsfcfan, I don't think it really works like that. if Virgil plays up properly, he'll be most likely gone. Our hope is that he knuckles down for the season and an agreement he can go next year.
