Not really, it's just Ellis Short.. No doubt he has to have the final say on whatever and conveniently is never available. Sussed him years ago..
Loads of common sense there Nads. But couldn't disagree more. This so-called business called football is changing everyday and we have to be in the PL. If you're not in, you're not part of the big money.
Oh I want to be in the PL mate don't you doubt that, but I don't want to go back in as a rudderless, character lacking club lacking identity that is there as cannon fodder. I want us back there with a club to be proud of and a club with respect, the whole league look at us as poor relations and quite frankly pointless for 2-3 years and so we want that? We can be a magnificent club, but we need to change the entire mindset, direction and belief around the club, top to bottom, to do so. That doesn't happen in a year, does it ****, we'd be papering cracks to get back up and Short would pocket the windfall. We need roots, we need players with pride, we need identity. We will get that by developing players with a bond and love of the club, not by buying players who see us as a big fish in a small pond. We simply can't exist like we have for the last 4-5 years since Bruce. We've become a nothing club and that is far harder to take than dropping out of the league. There are fantastic clubs in this league with us that have rotted for years, we need a formula and direction to prevent that. 2 years wouldn't kill us, look at Leeds and Wednesday, Forest. Wonderful clubs that barely get a mention, and that is ****. We can't allow ourselves to become that by looking short term. We must treat this relegation as an opportunity and not a curse. We would not have this option in the Premier League.
It's pretty sad that on a day we announce our second signing there's no thread about him but there is a thread whining about the lack of transfers. Sums the clip of this board up at the moment.
I am feeling a lot more optimistic that with the new manager we are at least looking in the right direction. I agree with the gradual improvement route, no more short term fixes with players calling the tune. Give us a team we can feel proud to support, is all I ask and so far so good imo.
I think there may still be a bit of the `disappointment round the corner` syndrome hanging about mate. You know the failed medical, change of mind, unable to agree terms sort of thing lurking there waiting to pounce. I reckon once we get a few over the line the mindset will change.
It's not me you need to reassure me mate. I'm chilled. tell it to the OP and the 100s of people whining on twitter. You're right though. But people can be so unreasonable when transfers breaks down or hold up. It happens all the time but these people would have folk believe it's just us. Way I see it, if deals are going through quick then we're probably not getting the best deal. We can't toughen up while being soft just to pander to the inpatient.
Good point that. Must admit I hadn`t though of it that way, Not sure what to make of Bain but I trust him to make a damn sight better job of it than the shambles that was Byrne. I`m not worried either tbh. As I see it things are starting to happen which is more than can be said for the state of things even a month ago.
Sorry Cumbrian mate, I know this is really lazy and I never do this, but Disco said it all there for me. Grayson has been at the club a little over a week and has two in the bag, with a 3rd just about through the door. If anything, he is ahead of schedule!
Wish you and @Disco down under would post more often on footy, @Nads too. Exceptionally switched on reasonable, well balanced posters. Along with @SAFC Nacho and @GiaccTheLad who do thankfully post often the footy side i think I could enjoy actually enjoy following safc this season on not606. Much more of you lads please.
Would help draw out posters like @grandpops and @Dorset and many others who love a bit of common sense but don't post much either. Loads of great posters hovering on the fringes. Post you buggers. Lets get this footy side thriving. It's got the foundation in place to pick right up again imo.
Must admit I got bored with it at the end of last season. Completely lost interest I didn`t even watch or listen to the last 5 games. Shocking that. Moyes was a stubborn miserable bugger and Short was his usual clueless self. There`s only a limited number ways you can say that. I think there`ll be a lot more to talk about this coming season Bri. In fact it`s starting already.
Same here mate. I'm feeling much better. Still very skeptical about Short taking the club off the market but we're stuck with him so I'm willing to make the best of it, make a tit of myself and go to some matches after angrily refusing to go while Short owned us
With Moyes going and Giggles Bracewell following shortly thereafter, the atmosphere seemed to lift just by their absence. Shocking state of affairs that you know really. It lifted my atmosphere anyway. Can`t quite put my finger in it but it feels like a start of a change of something. Don`t know how to put it or why it feels like that but for some reason it does.
