pretty sure we have about £7m and £40k a week for whoever we bring in! Jen, trust me, i just want anyone half decent now to put it in!!
well no- you have money yes, but im not sure there is another champ team that comes close to matching us!!!
On paper maybe, but that counts for nothing. We'll see what you think in a few weeks time when we play your lot.
we have a special club. he is settled down here now, young family and all that. sometimes its not all about money, we are top of the table, he is scoring for fun, he is in a really settled squad. besides he just signed a brand new improved contract. if you think signing people on that kind of money is a good idea, you are insane. administration is a horrible thing
i was a bit tongue in cheek. Us leicester have spent a lot of money, and wisely so far (aka not has beens and instead the best talent from the championship), however, it will all be wasted if we dont get a striker in. We targetted maynard and obviously shocked to have not got him- we offered over the odds and bristol didnt bit eour hand off, which was a shock. So whilst bashing out a deal, we lost all other potential targets, so are left with very little. Even long went. So now we are left to either pay over the odds and get someone like the yak on huge wages... or waste the money. Its silly money, but if its the difference between promotion or championship its all worth it.
Trouble is that every club knows you have money to spend and they'll double the asking price as we've found out over the last few seasons.
i know... its very annoying!! Plus when yak came in on huge wages, other big players now want similar wages. Its not sustainable in the champ, but should equal out when we go up.
Sounds like a big gamble, maybe it'll work, but it's a big risk. Ask any Saints fan. We've now got billionaire owners who have entrusted the club to a wiley chairman to run and so far he's doing ok. Just look at the deal with Arsenal for Oxo. £12m ffs..! They're running the club on a sensible financial basis and I'm happy to spend an few years in the Championship if that means avoiding the financial disaster we endured a few years ago.. Premier League is the aim but not by breaking the bank..
the difference is, our owners have a LOT of money. We spent all this, and its coming from the owners, not the club. If we dont go up, they can afford to just invest more. im jealous of Oxo though, you got a very good deal there!!
you can NEVER be sure. we have very rich owners, billionaires, and even we dont want them to spend too much money on us. from the two years in league 1 we were 14million in interest free loans in debt to our owner but thankfully that will all be paid off in the chamberlain deal. we should be running a profit in the championship and thats only a good thing. even if your owner/s says he/they is pumping money into the club, you never know when they might pull out and demand the money back
its the wrong strategy, trying to build too fast, now because youve got so many players in so quickly, all your fans will expect promotion this season, if it doesnt happen sven will go and your club will be unsettled. we had it for yeeeeears, we're all nice and stable now, same squad for 2 seasons now
"even if your owner/s says he/they is pumping money into the club, you never know when they might pull out and demand the money back" they cant as their not actually loaning it to the club, but merely plugging it in so that they cant do that to shrug off our security nerves. You have done it very very well, but we had to strengthen a lot to get near. Sven has bought in maybe too many players, but the ones he bought in like Schmeichel and Mills are such leaders it brings in the team rather than disorientates it. Gallagher, King, Wellens still make up the core. Peltier is young and hungry and just injects us with drive. We do expect promotion yes, but thats because on paper we should be- from the players to the manager to the owners backing, and because we know if we lack we can just strengthen further.
what happens if you dont get promoted?? a new manager comes in who then has to assemble a new squad. its too much pressure.
Shouldn't have been a shock, we bidded more for a defender than we did for a striker. It wasn't over the odds in comparison.
then that manager will be backed like sven has been. But look at the players we have signed- None of them, bar Mills, has cost a lot of money individually, so all have good resale value (wages apart)
Sounds very risky to me. Promotion at whatever it costs. Have you really got that much faith in Sven.?
