My guess is Conte will have his targets and out of 4 he'll probably get 2 and another 2 from further down the list like every other manager has to deal with.

Hey look, maybe Conte wanted Lukaku and planned to sign him. But the fact of the matter is, for whatever reason, we haven't bidded for him. Whether that is because Roman said he wanted someone else, or whether it is because Costa refused to leave, who knows? But the reason we aint getting Lukaku and United are, is because United spoke to Everton and bid for him, and we didn't.
There's no doubt that clubs like Chelsea, United, Arsenal will all have similar transfer targets, but most of the time these players are hard to obtain and we drive the price up for each other. We'll win some, you'll win some and we'll rub each other's faces in it whenever one comes in. Football would be **** if you all congratulated each other on signing players.

Chelsea usually announce when they make a bid on a player. Everton usually announce when they receive a bid on a player. There hasn't even been any bullshit made gossip of us making a bid, surprisingly.
There was enough gossip to suggest the deal was done up until about 48 hours ago dude. I think Conte probably did want Lukaku because he scores as freely as Costa but without the baggage that so evidently annoys Conte. We'll see, Rom will spill the beans no doubt.

It is a fact they made an enquiry but didn't make an offer. They were trying to **** us around like they tried to with Stones 2 years ago imo. They'd agreed terms with Lukaku's agent 2 months ago, Rom admitted he'd agreed to join another club ffs. But Chavski thought they could wait and try and leverage the fee down, as well as wanting to place Costa first. They've been well and truly bitten on the arse here.
