Why, WHY? We had pages of twit **** saying exactly the same thing over and over last night about Morata, nearly done, only £5m difference all the ****ing no name ITKs and now this. Why he thinks repeating other peoples tweets means anything is beyond me, BBC and MUFC websites usually get it right and you only need those two not millions of idiots repeating other idiots that are making wild guesses.
There is something strange about this announcement. Not that I don't believe it will happen but why would United leak this? Do they want Chelsea to jump in and gazump them? Why would Everton leak this? The only reason is to get Chelsea moving and involved in an auction. All this must have upset Morata and if United still wanted him then they are going a funny about it. Would Real react by accepting the United £66m offer. United have now declared that Lukaku has always been at the top of the wish list. There will be egg on some faces if this now does not go through. The deal must have been signed already or else some people would need to be sacked for incompetence and not learning from the RS's VVD fiasco.
I genuinely never saw this coming, I thought Lukaku would go back to Chelsea, and wouldn't want to come to us because Mourinho sold him. I think the 75 million fee is a fair price, I know that may sound ridiculous but in the current climate I'd of thought Everton would try to hold out for more. I'm glad too that we've not been held to ransom by Madrid. I think Lukaku is a better player than Morata anyways, as he can create more for himself with his power and strength, where as Morata is more of a goal poacher, who relys more on others for service. So I definitely think we've made the right move switching targets. Chelsea will probably end up getting Morata now, so it will be interesting to see if Madrid keep the asking price as high when Chelsea come knocking.
Interesting quote by Lukaku on the BBC web page "Everyone says it is Mourinho's fault but it is not his fault because I made the decision [to leave Chelsea]. I went to his office to ask if I could go.
That is true. If we do get this Lukaku deal over the line, Chelsea will really be running out of options. So I think they could end up being forced to allow Hazard to go the other way, or have to start the season without a star striker. I think missing out on Lukaku, if it is true, would be a massive blow for Chelsea. As other than Morata I cant really think of any star strikers they could sign to replace Costa.
The fee is £75m plus £15m in add ons, looks like barring a dramatic last minute intervention from Chelsea that it's happening
IIRC at the time the accepted story was that Mourinho didn't want Lukaku to leave, but Lukaku wanted a guarantee of a decent number of first team games. When he didn't get that guarantee, he asked to leave for more playing time, hence moving to Everton. If true, that's a good sign imo - unusual to see a talented and highly rated young player who is willing to accept lower wages and miss out on Europe to get regular games. They are usually all in the queue to do an SWP and move the other way for the money even if it torpedoes their development.
Rumours are Chelsea's interest was all a smokescreen to get a fee agreed - if we'd come in from the off it could have been £90m plus add ons. Lukaku's agent got Chelsea to set the fee level then in we come and accept that same fee. Probably still a good deal for Everton, provided you reinvest the money as well as you did with the Stones cash last year.
The fee is more like £100m when everything is counted. Apparently Rooney will be going for free to Everton yet he had been valued at £10m. So when add ons and the Rooney "free" deal are all included the final price is around £100m, which is why Everton took the offer. I had been surprised that they accepted "only" £75m
Apparently the fee officially will be less then Pogba's even including add ons so he will only be the second most expensive player ever.
That's not true. He'd agreed terms with Chelsea and even admitted to having agreed to join 'another club' a couple of months back, and that club wasn't United. Chelsea thought he was in the bag, and thought they could wait until Costa's future was sorted and then try and squeeze us as the window ran down, same as they tried to with Stones 2 years ago. Only you've come in and seemingly derailed them as you got fed up with Madrid pissing about over Morata.
That seems to fall into line with what the media say about United being convinced he was unobtainable due to an agreement with CFC, yet he was still the 1st choice for us. Us being United, not me.
