I am not panicking - just concerned. The only rumours about players we are linked with are very underwhelming and most of them do not add anything other than bulk out a poor squad. We really need 6 first team starters (would accept 3 or 4) but we have signed none. We need squad players as well - yes we have signed Atsu and Lejaune but both are average (Lejaune having one good season). The persistent rumours of a goalkeeper when we now only have one right back, Dummett as starting left back, no starting left winger, no back up right winger, one lower table central midfielder (Shelvey) and one potentially good mid table central midfileder (Hayden) and only back up midfielders we have is Colback and Diame. We only have Ayoze as a creative attacking player. Our main striker is Dwight Gayle and back up is Mitro. A lot of work needs to be done - this is why people are concerned. This is a relegation squad as it stands. This is also before we talking about the players gelling etc
Well thats a palace team that looked relegated before big sam. Last season a promoted Burnley finished the window with Defour (Belgian league!), Hendrick (championship) Gudmundson (league ****ing 1) along with Bamford (pure ****e) on loan. Will we finish this window with better than that? Definitely. Boro had a good summer and got a lot of business done early- that went well. Hull I won't even go into considering that famous team photo, but they put up a better fight than Boro I get why you're pissed cos I am too, getting well sick of looking for transfer stories and being met with more bollocks about how many pints Mike Ashley can fit in the hour, but it's ages til the window ends. I'll **** it when the manager walks and only then, can't be arsed spending this whole summer despairing only for us to end the window with the amount of players I'd hoped for. Remember how many we signed last season, do you really think Rafa would still be here if we weren't trying to make some headway on transfers. He's not just going to say thanks for lejuene and get on with starting the season.
Jamie Vardy won the premier league and represented England 3 years after playing for my local Halifax so failing to see that point mate. Yeh I know but bit like how everyone's lambasting us for not buying Iheanacho for 25m after scoring 12 goals for City. So what else do we have to believe he's worth 25m? Cos he's in City's reserves and will be part of their "loan school" if he doesn't get sold
Nothing new as a fan of this team. Aslong as 'da room' doesn't get renamed Sports Direct Arena I'll know things have been worse
I wonder if fatty is calling Rafa's bluff, knowing he's got an ace in the hole on the end of the phone.. Welcome Mr Pardew.
Isn't Mike Ashley embroiled in all sorts of personal stuff atm? Did he not also say the club can spend what they earn or generate through sales. Looks like it's nowt to do with him and most likely a lack of funds to get good enough players to join. No point signing **** for the sake of it.
Hmm lack of funds? The biggest issue I have is the lack of communication. It tells me that Ashley and his side kick just don't want to talk to the fans and that we're of little concern. It's so short sighted, as we won't be kept going completely thanks to sky funds.
I genuinely don't think Ashley has a thing to do with it....DIRECTLY. The balance sheet falls to Charnley; he's entitled to spend whatever he wants. Then there's Justin Barnes now involved, who's a bit more "value for money, pound for pound", like a more pedantic street stall pedlar than Llambias. Barnes/Charnley will never, ever spend more than £15m for a footballer unless there's a cast iron guarantee of success/selling for profit.
It comes to something when Wolves are reported to be spending £16/17 million on a player and we appear to be scraping around looking for loan deals. Maybe all will come good, but l have a very uneasy feeling at the moment, something just isn't right.
People seem to be getting hung up on money again. If we had managed to get Reina, Hughes, Charlie Taylor, Terry (though he's a tit), and Abraham's would we still be worried that Wolves have spent more? It's all hypothetical of course as we didn't sign any of the above
