Even when he's being a ****, which lets be honest is all the time, he still scored bucket loads for you. Despite the handbags with Conte, Costa still had his best scoring season with you lot last year. He will be a big loss for you. Unless you can replace him with somebody as prolific.
Agree that will be a mistake... still it doesn't mean things will go bad. Who even gave chelsea a chance of the title last year. Conte worked his magic though. If theres 1 thing he's good at its winning leagues (because hes a flat track bully manager). I actually think Contes pretty bad against the big teams even though we did okay last year and i wasn't a fan of his tactics in them. Not sure Conte's ego is the issue, just a clash of Conte and Costa, one who wants to have professionalism throughout and Costa who is a joker and is temperamental.
This ^ Keep Costa for one more season, let United have Lukaku and Morata go wherever the ****.....then swap Costa for Griezemann next summer if Costa has his heart set on an Atletico return.....problem solved.
I'm not contesting that they've perhaps under performed for their country mate, I'm just not sure how that translates to club form and them linking up. Rooney was always under performing for England according to the experts but it never stopped him winning and scoring for us.
I'll split it down for you, When he was happy and playing really well at the beginning of the season, he got 13 goals and 5 assists in 17 games and that included our slump at the beginning of the season. That is world class and his performances were great. After his January debacle he went 7 goals and 6 assists in 19 games. That still not a bad return but it was the performances that really stood out. Whereas someone like Walcott has really good stats but gets slated for going missing, Costa was a big negative when he goes missing cause he gets the ball a lot. Not only was he not holding it up, he was losing the ball a lot whereas Walcott only goes missing but you still keep the ball. Like i said, it would be good to keep him if they got along but i wouldn't want to take that risk
Mate you'd be bored ****less if you were still playing that in 2018 It's over, I won - get over it ffs.
I didn't say it would go bad, I said if it went bad would that be a good move? It wouldn't because no doubt the next manager would prefer Costa to Llorente because he's the much player when it comes to winning. Fergie's ego got rid of Stam back in the day, all top managers have an ego and like it or not they all make mistakes and the best are humble enough to admit theirs.
Merely that they have a lot to prove still when they come up against the very best ... as such, Matth's level of expectation may just be a tad optimistic (jingoistic) ... will a combination of Pogba and Lukaku take United to being Champion's League winners? ... I wouldn't expect Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve, PSG and the like to be trembling at the thought of playing a team with the pairing in it ... that's about it.... just keeping it real and in perspective.
None of that makes a convincing argument for selling him though. He scored 22 goals for you last season. Conte should be working harder to keep him. As I say though, I'm not complaining. You will be weaker without him.
