Interesting comment GM and your last comment is being voiced by several fans and offering Martin a new contract has not been well received by most fans I know. Edit - I expect Archant will run a poll and around 60% or more will say it's a good move!!! PS - A good article on MFW as to why Howson is about to leave us - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...best-wishes-a-true-pro-who-did-it-with-class/
This is a nail-on-the-head comment if ever I saw one! "But if any player deserves to go with our blessing and best wishes – even to a direct rival – it’s Jonny Howson. A model professional who showed commitment, endeavour and genuine class throughout his time at Norwich. Never one to seek or grab the headlines, he went about his business in an unassuming but wholly effective manner and made the game look simple with what appeared an almost effortless grace."
I think the club seems to be moving in the right direction and i'm generally happy with Webber & Farke, but both the potential sale of Howson and the undeserved faith the club seems to have in Martin suggest to me that the club hasn't fully learnt the lessons from the past.
Been saying to my family members in London who support Arsenal for about 3 or 4 seasons. They need to sign a striker like this guy. He'd be their next Henry! Really looking forward to watching this guy play every week next season. The guy is total class.
Huddersfield are going for it! Broke their transfer record 3 times in 2 weeks! Edit: £11.44M for the latest!?! Jesus!! He doesn't come with a massive amount of hype and reputation. Certainly not £11.44M of it! Can't wait for the new season, so many signings and unknowns. Everyone's going big. Will be interesting to see if Huddersfield pull it off again with finding Gems!
I'd guess that if you factor in the extra revenue for just being in that league, it's no different from NCFC signing RvW. The stakes are higher, but so are the rewards - even for failure.
City Starting Line-up v Cobh Ramblers: Matthews, Wildschut, Zimmermann,Klose, Toffolo, Tetley, Hoolahan, Maddison, Vrancic, Jo. Murphy, Oliveria Subs: Jones, Naismith, Jerome, Watkins, Pritchard, Pinto, Lewis, Morris, Godfrey Dorrans north of border finalising move, Howson in Ireland but not part of squad
Sounds like maybe a "first and final test" of Mathews and Wildschut. And maybe a test of "Keep or loan" for Toffolo. Apart from that, strikes me as a normal friendly line-up.
Sounds like a really good workout and I must pop into one of the shops to get my ticket for the friendly against Brighton.
Today's offering from MFW - an interesting snippet on PL's (mis)fortunes since leaving CR - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...ble-and-it’s-now-in-evidence-at-norwich-city/
Lukaku to sign for the manager who didn't want him at Chelsea, so sold him?! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40516483 With the money and signings Everton are making, I would refuse to sell him. I think they have an outside chance of Champions League qualification at this rate.
I think the only reason Everton were able to invest in those players is because they knew they'd get all that money for Lukaku, if he stayed then they might not have been able to afford their new signings.
