Not going by stats (because I'm too lazy to look any up), but I feel like it was a weakness to his game, but he worked on it a lot and in the last couple of years it's improved massively to being a solid part of his game. Just going by what I've seen and heard in the matches I've watched. In today's game they noted that he was holding a lot back on his serves and they were nowhere near as powerful, presumably to protect his injury. So hopefully he can crank it back up as the tournament goes on.

Great win for Jo Konta just now, 10-8 in the third so a bit of an epic. Into the 3rd round for the first time.

What a fantastic match! Both players giving a brilliant advertisement for women's tennis, I actually felt a bit sorry for Donna Vekic in the nod, but well done Jo!

Mark Cavendish and peter Sagan came together in a sprint finish leading to Cav falling and breaking something in his shoulder. End result is both Cav (injury) and Sagan (DQd) are out of this years TdF. No record for Cav this year.

A lot of strong opinion that it was just hard racing and Sagan is unlucky to be DQd. My view is Sagan came and squeezed Cav up to the barrier, Cav leaned into Sagan as a natural instinct to being pressured/squeezed, then Sagan raised his elbow and unbalanced Cav who fell. Two great riders out of the race. I think unfair to DQ from the entire event. A racing incident as the elbow hardly was the deciding factor, just not enough space.

Looked to me as if Sagan veered slightly to his right, "shutting the door ".
Without knowing the rules I would hold him responsible as it seemed like he was trying to initiate contact.

A day late but Vettell to get no further punishment for incident in Baku.

Not sure that's right myself, could set a bit of a dangerous precedent imo.

Disqualification seems harsh I agree, and most of the ITV4 pundits thought so too. Interesting that the jury first of all decided to penalise Sagan by all the points he had won in the Tour so far, and put him last in the standings. Then later on last night they changed their minds and disqualified him. Cavendish himself seems to bear Sagan no ill-feeling either.

In other news, Chris Froome takes the maillot jaune for the first time in this year's Tour after the first mountain top finish. Geraint Thomas drops to second.

I know he has a British passport but to me it is odd to support him as a Brit having been born and educated and lived in Slovenia until his early adulthood. As Konta was educated in the UK, she is British. Lennox Lewis... born in the UK and educated here until he was 13, he is British. Mo Farah.... educated here since he was a child, so he is British. Bedene is like Rudeski ... not really British so it is difficult to support him as a Brit. Not that I really care!!

I don't have a problem with him choosing to further his tennis career by adopting British nationality, if that's what he wants to do.

Did as much of the Wild Atlantic Way as we could. Didn't have time to do the North-West of the beautiful isle (next trip definitely), so just went down from Derry to Ballyshannon so I could pay my respects at the grave of one of my musical heroes.

Rory Gallagher I take it! The festival is unreal in Ballyshannon every June bank holiday weekend!Great musicians and bands about and mostly a very easy going vibe to it all! Next time you might even get to catch a Finn Harps game if you make the short trip to Ballybofey!

The very same - though I meant pay respects to the wonderful statue of him in Ballyshannon. Yes - couldn't get to the festival this year, hoping to make it next year. There's also another in Nantwich in September which I'm looking to go to.
Spoke to a guy in the butcher shop in Ballyshannon and he said it was a great festival this year and everyone was (in his opinion) well behaved. Then when I got to Cork I read that someone was in court for a stabbing during it!
Anyway, looking to try and make it next year if I can. And a Finn Harps game would be good too.

Probably doing what John McEnroe has always done. Injected a little interest into a sport featuring rackets and balls.
