He obviously isn't going to sign every single player he has worked with before. I meant: given a choice between fresh blood or an old acquaintance, he seems to prefer the latter. You were superb against Chelsea and it is to his discredit that he only set you up like that in 1 out of 38 games. You would've finished top 4 if he'd unshackled your players more often. But he doesn't, which is precisely my point. Herrera WAS playing alongside a powerhouse. A very expensive powerhouse who looks like he'll need more time to adapt to the PL. Herrera is a classic Mourinho type player so it is no surprise he is now flourishing. I won't describe what I see as a "Mourinho type player" as apart from 'hard working' there are very few positive points in the list. And yes, Ibra very much obstructed Rashford's development. Instead of trusting the well-trodden path of promoting youth seen under Fergie, Mourinho stifles the team's young talents and looks to Fellaini to change the game instead.
Had Rooney decided to sit out his contract at OT for another season it would have cost us more than £10m - so sound economics really.
You seem upset. I'll leave you to celebrate the arrival of the PL's best one-dimensional striker in peace.
I'm not upset, just arguing your invalid points is all. I'm also not celebrating a signing either, I'm not a child.
Of course, how unexpected. Now we've signed him, he is suddenly crap (26 goals last season type crap)
I'm late to the party but this was always the player I really wanted. With a good team behind Lukaku, he would become a BEAST!!! You're an idiot with that statement. I'm sorry for having to call you that. The guy plays with his back to goal most of the time because his team is average and still managed 25 goals. He has done it season in, season out! Yet you label him as one-dimensional? GT*O man!!
Anyone remember last year when Lukaku was spending most of the summer with Pogba before Pogba came back? This is going to be great for the team. Solid core of young and strong players. I now firmly believe that we can really build on this core to make a good run for the title. I always preferred Lukaku to anyone from Spain because he knows the game here. You can't replace that with just any other "cute" player. If we snatch this from Chelsea, it would also be massive psychological coup before a ball is kicked.
It happens periodically, Matth creates a thread dedicated to one person, Lukaku or Morata for instance, instead of lumping them into the summer gossip thread. So you've got various threads with a few posts in each instead of one with many discussing exactly that, summer gossip. I then merge them. We had a full first page of one name threads at one point, all by Sir Matth of Rhyl. You'll get used to it!
I love you type of guys. Come on a page and make some vaguely spurious points about something and if anyone dares begin to question them you claim wind up and slap yourself on the back. Pretty sad existence really but you're far from alone in this. There's one or two on the PL board, go check them out.
Is he from Rhyl? It's nice of you to tidy it up for him mind. Anybody on this board from/living in Manchester?
The sheer volume of Spurs fans who have adopted some sort of weird superiority position lately is utterly ridiculous. Most of them gave Arsenal fans **** for the last 10 years for claiming the 4th place cup, now they're at it themselves, albeit the 2nd place cup. They're like the scousers, scratching around for ways to prove they're better without actually winning the damn thing.
Rhyl though I wonder if he'll be up for a match. I'll personally take him in the Stretford End with me for a game next season. He'd fit in nicely in my section, the bloke behind swears every third word.
I think you're reading far too much into my post. I did respond to his questions. He genuinely seemed upset by that response.
You don't need to scratch around for ways of proving you're better if you actually finish above other teams in the final table.
Water off a duck's back mate. I don't expect to pop on to a rival team's forum and not get a good bollocking I'm sure a lot of United fans had him as their #1 choice. I know quite a few (I live in London) who were horrified. I think his success will rise or fall depending on how much creative freedom Jose gives the 3 playing behind him. Stop playing such conservative, cautious tactics and he will be an absolute beast for you.
