http://www.skysports.com/football/n...d-everton-agree-163-75m-fee-for-romelu-lukaku Looks like he's headed to United for £75m. Shocking that anyone would pay that amount for a player with a pretty questionable first touch. Good player but that amount of money is stupid in my mind. The deal reminds me of Bale leaving Tottenham. If spent well, the money could help Everton challenge the top 4.
Can anybody name the last time Manchester United spent less than 25 million on a signing? Lukaku is a canny step down from Griezmann and Morata, imo
I think Lukaku is a great player and will score a lot of goals for them, although I would value him at around 45-50 mil not 75.
I think he's worth £75m in today's market personally. Argue all the time with my Dad about value of players and he said "So Pogba is better than Bale or Ronaldo" but they were sold/bought quite some time ago and you wouldn't get them for less than £200m now at the level they were bought. Makes a change to hear someone say "He's worth 45-50m" instead of "No-one is worth that much" - they're worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for them
I really think he may regret moving as Pickfords distribution could have led to a boatful of goals for him. But absolutely obscene the amount of money floating around on transfers and its only going to get worse. Its driven by TV money andstuck in the premier league which is why we need to return there asap or we'll get beached - at least we have nice stripes to use for deck chairs
I'm still getting used to the cartoonish prices players go for now but even bearing it in mind I don't think he's in what I would call the top tier bracket of around 75 mil plus. I don't think his overall quality is high enough to justify it, I've no doubt he will do well for them though.
Everton have already spent the majority of that cash on Pickford & Co. Good business for them, just hoping Jordan's money can help us in a similar fashion.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Free transfer 2016 Several the year before that. If and when the deal is done, we'll see. I think the transfer is probably dependent on Rooney going the other way.
I personally think he will bring another dimension to your team, although the price tag is incredible..
Get used to seeing those sort of prices mate. Lukaku 25 goals and 6 assists, Harry Kane 29 goals and 7 assists. Kane would have probably cost us around £150m. If the rumours are true then there's one thing I'm very happy about, as we've apparently told Real Madrid to GFY over Morata and that's all I've been hoping for all summer as I'm sick of Real's theatrics in the transfer market every summer.
Quite right. Time was when it was SAFC that was paying The World's top prices. Shack, the first over £20k, Ford, the first £30K. The same sort of thing was said about them, as it was about Shearer for £15mil. When you break it down to bare essentials, the object of the game is to get that round ball into the opponents net. Do this often enough and the Club is hugely rewarded through Prize Money and Euro Competition's. Those Players who score regularly are the most valuable to any Side. Without at least one of these a team is destined for mediocrity, at best, or relegation, at worst. Put simply, Lukaku scores more often than most, so he is going to cost more than most. Complaining about it is kicking against fate. I believe it's called progress and it only happens because us Football Fans have allowed it to happen.
If we had had another 2 Jamaine Defoe's and two class defenders we would be top 6. Man u have a kit sponsor of about £900m over 10 years, they sell a about a million shirts world wide and who knows what else. And for Madrid yes they like to 'get in on the act' with Ronaldo who seems to be NOT leaving every season !, chance we had them worries of spending £75m on a player, must be worrying for the chosen one who to sign. Bale at about £175m would have been their best option he might beat Shearer's goal record as well.
So, jimmy. What you're saying is that, over the last season, we had a top 6 midfield? #bullshitaert Also - what good would 2 more Jermain Defoe's make when he was pretty poor from February onwards? I love the bloke, but 2 goals in 4 months isn't exactly top form is it?
