Sometimes it's quite easy to tell people what they want to hear. Especially when they'd be disappointed that he had no intention of staying at the club his friends support.

Sorry, were you involved directly in the contract negotiations? Nah, didn't think so.

Erm, he knows a friend of a friend of a friend.

    That means it's 100% swear-on-the-bible true.

I think so. The only people who know are the people who sat around the table. I don't buy into this pretending to look billy big balls with 4th hand bullshit info. Easy to say yeah of course I want to stay. When there's a 5 year contract offer on the table for Stoke reserves.

People can be very economical with the truth when it suits.

Admittedly our owners don't help the situation.

Hull City deal for Arsenal transfer target Josh Tymon edges closer

Josh Tymon is keen to commit his long-term future to Hull City as the highly-rated youngster continues talks over a first professional contract.

Tymon, 17, became City's youngest ever Premier League player at the weekend when making his top-flight debut in the 3-0 loss at Sunderland.

The latest step on a meteoric rise during 2016 has again triggered reports that Arsenal are monitoring Tymon's progress but the Mail understands negotiations are ongoing over a deal that would keep the left-back at the KCOM Stadium.

No agreement has yet been reached but it is hoped further talks could bring a resolution inside the next fortnight.

Tymon, as well as his family and representatives, are thought to believe an extended stay with City will best suit his development. The rookie defender has already started five senior games, including the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, and is hopeful further opportunities will follow under Mike Phelan.

Interest from Arsenal, as well as Tottenham and Everton, has an obvious appeal but moving to a Premier League giant would offer no guarantees of first-team football.

"There's no word on his contract as yet," said the City head coach. "I believe he's been offered one and it's now up to the powers-that-be, meaning the player and his agent, to think about where his future lies."

National reports have suggested Tymon remains on as little as £150 a week, a figure dwarfed by the earnings of his senior City team-mates.

The Tigers are willing to significantly increase the teenager's wages with their proposed deal but there is still a middle ground to be found before the England under-17s international commits his long-term future. Tymon ended a six-year wait for a City academy product to start a Premier League game on Saturday when he was given the nod at left-back.

A performance that earned the praise of Phelan keeps the youngster in contention for this weekend's visit of West Brom and the City head coach is keen to see all of his youngsters seizing chances.

"There's a talent there (with Tymon)," said Phelan, who also named Greg Olley as an unused sub and included 18-year-old midfielder Daniel Batty in his travelling squad.

"There's a young man who's willing to progress at this football club. He's made a debut in the Premier League and he's got serious potential.

"How we handle that is what we have to do going forward but I've got no problems playing young lads.

"Jarrod Bowen came on again and he was bright and enthusiastic. He's showing a lot of desire.

"We had Greg Olley on the bench as well and I was more than willing to put him on.

"You have to use all your instruments at your disposal and we had a 19-man squad on Saturday with another young lad (Dan Batty) missing out.

"Young players bring enthusiasm and bring hope. I don't think anyone can be disappointed with Josh Tymon or Jarrod Bowen as Hull City fans."

It's amazing you and Cortez didn't tell us he wrote to the club in December rejecting his contract. Isn't it.
Truly amazing. Why he was on begging and bended knee just praying for a contract from us.
