But everyone's imitating, or in your words, ripping off, someone else these days.

There's hardly anything out there in music that's unique nowadays.

And you're right about his millions of fans not knowing any better. But most of them listen to totally forgettable music that's even ****ing worse, so when a bloke does stand up with a guitar, they think he's the second coming and original as ****.

Doesn't seem a good enough reason for the personal abuse though.

Some arsewipes just like to troll on Twitter.

    Its not always enough though.
Bieber is a decent guitar player, and has a decent voice AND writes a lot of his music (albeit dogshit music imo), but people despise him.
Saying that, he comes across as a total and utter bell end in every interview or interaction with people I have ever seen with him.

I'm just relating to the music, not the abuse.

I think the thing ppl don't get with him is this is not about everyone does it, he has taken it to a whole new level, as I said before completely copying a musical composition is nothing short of fraud.

I cannot think of anyone who has done it on his level and got away with it.

Can't work out if you're disagreeing with me mate.

You could replace Beiber with Sheeran in that sentence. And my perception is less people hate Sheeran than Beiber, precisely because of Beibers antics.

I'm not talking about whether someone is a good singer or not or generally a good musician.

From my perspective what Sheeran is doing is completely copying works of art at composition level.

Oasis sounded more like the Beatles than the Beatles towards the end.

    Anyway, g'night mate!

It's nothing to do with liking him, I merely challenge his method of theft. Harmony will always be replicated but to completely copy in the way he does is unprecedented.

Busker did good, he's a clever ****er give him that.

"Irritating ginger busker" is hardly defamatory. It's spot on.

Not really sure what I was trying to say.
Just that even if they have a guitar, if their natural douchebaggery shines through, then people will still think they are a helmet.

Can't say either Bieber or Sheeran do that much for me, by then I'm a grumpy old ****.

As I put earlier, the line between influence and plagiarism in music is a very blurred one.

The most significant thing I can say about Ed Sheeran is that I couldn't name a single record he's ever made. I might be able to attribute a couple of popular tunes to him, because they're used in commercials, but I don't know any others and can name none.

Same with Westlife, which tells it's own story.

    Indeed.
Some of the most loved tracks in music history have riff's ripped off from previous artists.
Take Nirvana's Smells like Teen Spirit for example.
Kurt admitted he nicked the riff from a Pixies track called Umass.

The publicity seems to be doing Sheeran no harm, it looks like he's got another album out.
