Merieles is an attack minded player and I think Aquilani may make the bench for Arsenal.

Kuyt will start RW imo to give us the urgency needed for this game. I wouldn't use Pacheco for such an important match but would not use N'Gog either.

Ngog shouldnt be in the 18, one of Aqua/Pacheco should be.

Flanno did his best saturday, but lets be honest had a mare 2nd half,Kelly or Jono in for him.Agree that Dirk should start , perhaps Skretl will be fit for the bench

If Aqua and Maxi arnt gonna be involved we need to sign someone else

Rumours are its a BIG possibility as well, with Comolli apparently in Madrid at the mo

Suarez is the one to compare to Aguero not Carroll. Man City will play with Dzeko and Aguero we will use Carroll and Suarez.

I agree - if we're not going to use Aquilani, then we need another creative player. IMO - Maxi isn't good enough despite his great run at the end of last season and neither is Meireles. Raul has fantastic movement but in terms of attacking i.e. passing, vision etc, he just doesn't posses it. All he can do it run and create space which is good but we need more.

It's a shame because Aqua is the man for the job, we have him and we're not using him. Probably because we're in the process of finalising a deal with an Italian club and we can't afford to get him injured.

Agree with starting Kuyt in this match - we need big game players and Kuyt is definately one of those. Hopefully Kelly will come in for Flanno.

Yeah, it's not like NGog saved our skin against Arsenal last season. Oh, hang on...

But yeah, Pacheco will come good. Just like Babel did, i.e. not bloody likely. More hype than hope now.

Hope you are right about N'Gog at times he looks like he may come good, he's a big lad with good pace if he can improve his finishing then he could be a good player, I''m not sure he will make that step up but he will be an asset if he does.

I agree. If Aqua and Maxi are not included this weekend then we must invest further. They both should of been on the bench at least last week (instead of Ngog & Robinson).

Also, If we don't want Aqua and Raul wants out, why not Kaka? Put this in the rumor page but he is itching to get back to his best and would love him to be our AM and creative spark because if he can come back, we would have a massive massive player on our hands.

Yes Raul of Schalke/Ex Real Madrid
Old now, but one of those class players that has managed to adapt his game to compensate for his age
His experience would be invaluable and imagine how the young ones could learn from him
Excellent option as a striker that could fill the boots for a few games to cover injuries and for the rest of the time a good impact player from the bench to come on and nab a late goal
I think he would jump at the chance to have a taste of the Premiership in the twilight of his career with a decent club
Sell a few shirts as well!!

I'd like to think we are a little bit more appealing than Blackburn...

    Though I wouldn't sign Raul.

Although I think Raul would be a useful player, I think his wages would be quite high and plus he doesn't meet the FSG criteria. I think we should continue investing in young talent and not 'panic buy' an old legend just for back up.

I remember Werner or Henry saying that they are not looking for short term stop gaps. They want to invest for the future. But then they bought Doni ...

The thing about Doni is that he has a few of his best years left in him. Having him in the squad allows our young keepers to go out on loan and get competitive match experience. So by doing this they are technically investing in the future.

    my view on the original poster is;

    a) kenny has to cope with internationals
    b) player like pacheco is off on duty (and not exapctly showing world beating skills or a reaosn to include)
    c) there are some injuries
    d) there are only so many slots on the bench

I saw 3 attackers, 3 defenders (inc spearing) and a gk on the bench last time out... thats fairly standard.....

meireles kuyt and n'gog were on the bench and how does the OP know thats not the best available last week?

its far to say we'd all love aguero and the like on our bench but we can only do so much improvement in one window!

This is one thing about this forum that is grinding my gears. Idiots attempting to compare Andy Carroll to Sergio Aguero. You can't do so.
They are 2 completely different types of player. Its like comparing Wayne Rooney to Thierry Henry. You cannot make the comparison for the above reason.
This has been said countless times, if you are going to compare Aguerro to anyone, compare him to Rooney, Tevez and Suarez, as they are the same type of player.

Why is that comparison mentioned every day, seems a rather pointless WUM and its been beaten to death many times over.

They think that having a similar price tag means that it is eligible to compare two different players. So, who is better...de Gay or Downing? <whistle>

I think we only need 1 more attacking signing, and I'd say a backup striker is priority.. someone a bit different to what we've already got. A watered down version of Torres that can clamp onto through balls etc.. I'd say Bent, despite the fact he's one dimensional.. he can score goals. He'll be expensive though, so it's very unlikely.
