Now I get it when people lay into lets say Justin Bieber, the lad is a bit of a twat and does things to draw the abuse in. I don't get it when others get abused though, I just read an article about Ed Sheeran quitting Twatter because of the amount of abuse he gets, everyone gets some it's to be expected but the abuse was outweighing the normal posts. I'm no Ed Sheeran Fan, can't stand his music but besides that he seems quite a nice lad who's kept himself grounded to a point so why is there so much abuse? Are we such a bitter and twisted nation that anyone famous deserves abuse?
I'm sorry, but it's bullshit. He gets far more positive responses than negative ones. He focuses on the bad ones. It's his choice if he wants to quit and I really don't care either way. As for it being a national issue, it's clearly from all over the world. If you're popular online, then that's just what happens. If he can't handle that, then he's doing the right thing by quitting.
Twitter allows cranks, idiots, bitter ****s, jealous no marks, hate filled bigots and other assorted bellwhiffs the opportunity to take pot shots at anyone they fancy, before they get blocked, it must bring some sort of perverse satisfaction to their dreary existence.
Most people don't get much of a reaction, never mind sustained abuse or criticism. Just block those involved and report them if it really bothers you. I doubt that many celebrities even read most of the replies to their social media accounts. Ed Sheeran has 19.2m twitter followers. He can't go through all of those comments. He's specifically said that one comment ruins his day. If he's that fragile, then he shouldn't be on it.
Is that right though, "if you can't handle the abuse don't use it" strapline? So if you're a bit sensitive you should not use something or shouldn't go somewhere. Sounds like we want to segregate these sensitive souls. Free Speech will come up in a bit.
It comes with the territory, so if you're on there, you have to accept that it's used by plenty of trolls who'll call you a ****. If that causes you an issue as a celeb, then you really shouldn't have an account. Twitter is the ultimate inanity as far as I'm concerned.
It's not even about abuse, though. He specifically says that mean things being posted ruins his day. That could easily refer to criticism, which seems to be the case, judging by the examples being used in the reporting today. People aren't going to be 100% supportive and nice all the time online, just as they aren't in normal life. 19.2m followers are going to have a variety of opinions and that's not including anyone else who wants to comment. I'm not saying what should happen, just what will. If he can't take criticism or abuse without it ruining his day, then social media's not a healthy place for him.
You think that's bad, you should see how much abuse matth gets on twitter. Shocking tbh.... Then he blocks me for calling Rooney fat. FFS!! I've left twitter since.
Ed Sheeran is a ****ing fraud...in my own personal opinion. He rips off other people's stuff and redoes it to his own style, he's worse than that bitch Madonna. Trouble is his millions of fans know jack **** about music, they just like what they hear and want his cock.
His looping is quality. Plus most of his talent is writing other people's music. He writes for some of the biggest artists out there. Not a massive fan but saw him live at the 02 last Thursday and he was impressive. Plus I like to think I know a fair bit about music. I don't want his cock either!
When he first came out his record company didn't show him in the videos if you remember, as he was considered to be an ugly, ginger ****. Somehow, now he's a multi millionaire Worldwide star, he's a ****ing sex symbol.
He's supposed to be worth about £40m. I'd be laughing at them too, if I were him. I really don't get why he gives a ****.
