We tried last summer. He asked how he was going to get game time ahead of Harry Kane and why he shouldn't stay at Barcelona to sit on the bench? Different summer, same question. Okay, it's Everton but he will play. I wonder how Vinnie feels now about understudying the best striker in the PL?
The first batch of players have reported for pre-season training Odd that, based on their gear, Winks and McGee have a squad number while Onomah, GKN and Vorm don't.
Even more odd is that their numbers are wrong. Winks has 98, while he was wearing 29 last season. McGee has 41 and his squad number's 31.
If you think our summer business is slow, spare a thought for the Nomads: their fans have had to resort to taking to Twitter and banging on about signing somebody sixteen years ago...
It's being reported that Inter are considering a move for Fazio...which sound an awful lot what I was predicting a couple of months ago when I suggested Luciano Spalletti would be coming back for Fazio once he was settled in the Inter dugout. This would have one obvious benefit though: Roma could have made Fazio's loan permanent for €3.2m on top of the loan fee, but as Inter haven't paid a loan fee we can get Levying. Meanwhile, today's piece of silly seasoning, ClubCall are suggesting we're negotiating a swap deal, with Feyenoord's Nicolai Jorgensen headed out way while Vincent Janssen heads theirs. You may scoff at this notion.
Fair play to the lad. But that's why we should have brought Defoe back on a free. He'd have been a lot happier to be an impact sub and play cup games.
Murdoch's hate comic is reporting that, if Celtic fail to win their Champions League qualifiers and get dumped into the 2017-18 Emirates Cup they'll be losing Celtic Dembele. Once again, isn't it lucky that Sky Bet aren't affiliated with any media organisation that could drip feed potentially/possibly/probably/obviously false stories to the public in order to tempt them into shelling out their hard-earned?
Am reading that Silva, the Sporting Lisbon captain, is pretty much a done deal. Reported fee £26 mill. We'll see!...
A number of Portuguese publications ran stories today claiming we'd had a 30m Euro bid accepted. Would be a strange transfer if true as, at 28, it goes against our 'buy 'em young, sell 'em high' policy. But at the same time, with Dembele's fitness sadly waning and certainly not able to meet the demands of 2 games a week, it is crucial that we have an experienced presence in the center of the park. Silva was very, very impressive for Portugal last summer and tbh with the crazy prices being thrown around this window, £26m (mad as it seems) represents a bargain for a European cup winner who has captained one of the biggest clubs in Europe for 3 seasons and 3 years still left on his contract. Perhaps Dier has had a word in the ear of his old team-mate? However, as rcl said. Until the lad is in a Spurs shirt and on the website, he's a Lisbon player.
Odd but intriguing signing if it happens. £26m on a 28 year old is un-Levy-like. Can't say I know much about him other than the fact that FM back in 2007/2008 rated him as a great prospect. Little weird that at 28 he's not already moved to a bigger league but he seems highly rated and tends to be in the Portugal squad a lot. If Poch and co have doubts (like us) over Dembele's fitness, it makes sense to bring in an experienced CM to provide competition and depth to help us push on in the domestic and European front.
You forgot to mention the bit about Eric Dier being a former team mate. Other than that, picture perfect plagiarism
Leicester have really wanted this guy for a couple of seasons but just today they've signed Vincente Iborra from Sevilla. It could be that Silva's comments from yesterday about not signing for a mid-table side has cleared out a team offering a lot more than us in terms of transfer fee leaving us free to negotiate sensibly. Alternatively, it could be a load of bollocks. However, a nice calm ball playing midfielder would help a lot in the CL
