The success of City of culture is the perfect opportunity to annex the suburbs.

Roll the tanks and infantry through Hessle, Anlaby and Cottingham. Pincer move to envelop West Ella, Kirk Ella and Willerby.

Paratroop drop into Swanland and North Ferriby and the west will fall.

Simple naval blockade of Paull should do for the east.

    Piece of piss.

Send a few scuds into Sutton too – in case they get any ideas.

Victory parade to culminate at Piss Towers new(ish) home at Victoria Dock.

    Good post.

No doubt there is negativity in Hull but, as you say, you can see it in any city.

Some of the quotes from 'Hull' people from that survey sound like a pisstake of sorts anyway.

Aye. Crush the agitators once and for all.

How dare they think they can still maintain an independent identity within the boundaries of the city of Hull.

As a Bev lad I never once heard any of my mates or mates families ever bad mouthing hull. So what if some people who live in a small village or town prefer it to a city? Most do.

Sorry Walter, from experience of working in and around Beverley and Walkington right up to Driffield in the mid 60's right up to 1970 there was a certain distate towards Hull in general from the locals, in some cases downright hostility. I have been for nights out in Beverley, mainly Nellies and Beverley Regal, and it has been made quite obviouos to me, and my mates that we should **** off back to Hull. And even as recent as last year on a National Coach trip to Italy, we arrived back late on a Sunday evening getting off the coach in Anlaby, a couple from Walkington had arranged a pick up from Anlaby, the pick up failed to turn up. So asking for a taxi number, I gave them one number and the coach driver gave them another, the guy looked at the numbers and said that because they were Hull numbers they couldn't think of ringing them and would make their own arrangements. The coach driver looked at me in amazement, needless to say they were still stood there at 9:45pm on a Sunday night as our daughter picked us up.

Waste of time trying to get a Hull taxi to pick you up outside Hull and take you further away, they won't come, it's not snobbery, it's just practicality.

I was brought up in Kirk Ella and have lived in Beverley and North Cave for the past twenty seven years, none of my mates have ever slagged off Hull, the ones from the West Hull villages very much see Hull as their home city.

I'm from Ferriby, although not lived locally for a very long time, 35+ years, I still identify myself as from Yorkshire, Hull, and then if they know the area I narrow it down to North Ferriby. I live overseas so start with Yorkshire and take it from there. I never would think to say Ferriby before Hull, even when in the U.K. which I am several times a year and someone asks.

I was listening to RH this morning and they said thanks to Bob Carver for supplying the patty and chips. Certain look like a Bob Carver's patty, I never been to Papa's and probably never will, they use frozen fish not fresh, which I don't particularly like.
