The trouble is players are now shouting at the officials to go look at the screen, just like they do when they want a player booked. Certainly needs ironing out if it's going to work properly.
Yeah but then the officials come out and say the reason Chile didn't get a pen in the Semi-Final was due to none of the players appealing, so they didn't bother checking the video.
Did they not appeal for a pen, or not appeal for a video replay ? It's a fine line between the two tbh
Been out all day in the sun, got the motor washed and got a naaawty fade this morning. Couple of Thatchers and some GOT to wrap up the weekend.
They didn't appeal the pen, but it was a clear pen. The officials then gave a statement saying they didn't use video reffing as no-one claimed it was a pen. I think!
Kind of shows a big flaw in the rules around appealing for a video replay. What is a player supposed to do in that situation ? hound the ref for a pen, or ask for a video panel to review it ? The latter carries a booking, the former just pisses the ref off and also carries the risk of a booking.
Exactly. If you do neither they don't bother checking. The whole tournament showed exactly why video reffing is a ****e idea in football. Unless they massively change it.
I've hit the 7000 mark. Everyone single one of those likes represents a massive owning of one or more of the 'Pede. So, thanks, lads, for your unerring support.
Very poor ratio though. Very poor. Waiting for the Stans to get ready so we can go and eat and I can drink more!
