Back in the 70s I was based in Hong Kong and played football for the Far East Land Forces, basically it was England amatuers. Every summer here a few English teams went on tour to play a cup comp in Hong Kong and we were also invited. I played against Huddersfield Town with Frank Worthington who had a cig on at kick off, qe drew 1-1. I scored 3 goals against Man Utd who had Gary Bailey in goal, Lou Macari, Gordon Hill, Steve Coppel etc in the side, we won that 4-3. We were beaten in the senis by Hong Kong Rangers who beat Celtic in the final. James Beattie at a Sky Darts even in Liverpool when he played for Everton. He called Lord HawHaw a **** for giving us 15 points but said Bates was a bigger ****.
So it won't be called "Millwall's achievements" then..........that won't be a film, it'll be a short story....
I met Lulu in the lounge at heathrow before heading off to New York and then there was Clare Grogan in the Woldorf. I once met Princess Anne, she is really good company and I shook hands with Princess Diana at an opening ceremony. But no footballers apart form the No 6 git who was one year older than me and turned professional and the No 6 snake who was one year younger than me who turned professional By the way - I was a No 6 midfielder but I'm not bitter, good for them ........ Conards !!!!
I saw Eddie G in Leeds M&S with (I assume) his wife a few years ago. Taller than I expected. Does that count? If not, I am a complete failure on this subject. Oh hang on, I'm related by marriage to a well know writer, so that counts.
