The suffering of mental illnesses, natural disasters, innocent people dying. I heard what you were saying about its because of man and how man decides to act.

I disagree that for those people who do not act badly, have not been polluting the earth etc should be lumped into the sins of other men as they are not able to past the test of god.

Fair enough, maybe keep it to one thread as it takes over every ****ing thread. Start a religion thread for you and the **** from Hull to chat in.

That kind of goes against reality as we see it or know it. Regardless of faith or beliefs

Man is busy messing up the planet via war or greed and kids, animals, plants are dying and being killed now and future generations

Man has made these decisions and those who are doing it do so without mine and your blessing/agreement

This is oppression that religion speaks of, but those who do it are not the only oppressors, those who don't speak out against it are also oppressors

Religion doesn't ask for a result from your actions but that you take them.

The whole alien thing ranks alongside dinosaurs, nukes, and us flying through space at 666,000mph  for utter bollocks.

    Here's a snippet...

The Vatican has spent hundreds of millions of pounds on the biggest, most sophisticated telescopes in the world(they own the majority of the telescopes pointing at the sun too) Their latest one is in Arizona...it's called Lucifer! im not religious in the slightest, but it is not hard to see that it is clearly not Cristians that run the Vatican.

    ponder this ****...

And thats where i fail to believe a god who intends for every life to go through its own test to prove themselves worthy does not get that chance because of the actions from others. If this is indeed his creation of our tests then i refuse to believe he is omnibenevolent and in that case is this a god i want to believe in.

To believe or not to believe is a choice and if you don't fair enough.

As I said before though there is a reality to life which we all see regardless of what we believe. People die and some do so because of actions of others.

Some of it makes no sense but people have a view and accept it. Eg more kids killed in Syria and Iraq in the last few months by those saving them than those they are being saved from, yet we cheer the saviours

Funnily enough even the whole God is omnibenevolent has its history in a strawman than a claim by the religious

Regardless of omnibenovelent or not i do not subscribe to a god who would create so much evil and suffering. As you say bombs being dropped on kids, what a world he has created.

People dying in syria due to bombs is terrible. What would a standard person under isis want? If you are part of their rank and file you treated fine thats good. If you were a liberal and believed in womans rights, wasnt the right type of muslim or wasnt even a Muslim then you are living a life of terror where you are effectively a slave. The defeat of isis isnt an empire building exercise imo and i agree with it (unlike iraq or Libya ).

As for why are some humans evil, thats just life, theres no explanation. Its what has happenef since people could record history. There doesnt need to be an explanation just as we see animals killing each other for food or sport, some humans are no different and only care about power and maintaining their status.

That's all religion ever was. An attempt by the ruling classes to placate and instil fear and obedience in to the masses.
I bet the fact that some people, thousands of years later, still believe in it, would have the writers of these books pissing themselves laughing....<laugh>

I hate to agree with Fan, but I don't buy The Problem of Evil as an issue for theists.
It assumes that suffering is inherently evil and that this life is the most important factor.
Neither of those would necessarily be the case, if you assume that there's actually a god.

If someone trains for a marathon, for example, then they're going to have periods of real suffering.
It prepares them for the race and it's a test in itself.
It's self inflicted, so the analogy isn't perfect, but nobody would call that evil, would they?

If the afterlife's the goal and death is just a move to the next phase, then temporary pain and misery aren't necessarily evil.
People can inflict evil on each other, but then they'll be punished for it, while their victims supposedly benefit.
Anything else can be explained away by pointing to a bigger picture or our incomplete comprehension.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me as a world view and there are clear issues with the redemption part of it.
It's not hard to work out why people don't see this as a real stumbling block for their faith, though.

This couldn't make less sense tbh

So Isis are wrong because they kill and subjugate people but those rescuing said people have killed more in less time and future generations will be born suffering due to weaponary used so its OK?

What's funny is you seem you believe this thats what is making me piss myself laughing

If you even knew the basics of religion you wouldn't see it as something that ruling classes would be supportive of
