No, I don't think we will either. Was just saying I'm not against spending big money on the right player
It seems to me that the very top of the game has not moved ob but every flea bitten mogrel is worth 25mil now.
VVD isn't a waste though, it might be argued that it's a little overpriced but it's bound to be the case as Southampton don't have to sell him, it'll take a big fee for Southampton to sell because of his big contract and the fact we're Liverpool. VVD is quality, and if we get him I'd be over the moon providing the injury isn't concerning at all! For the record I don't think we'll get VVD.
"a little overpriced" Good luck finding someone (bar Saints fans) that doesn't think it's over priced
Stones went for £50m last season, this season teams have even more money which is bound to drive prices up, plus VVD is twice the player Stones is, and then some! Look I'm not using it as an excuse, I just don't get why some people get so hung up on price tags. It's not your money we're buying the players with ffs.
Some "supporters" are just #bitters in disguise They want us to throw away Moreno on a free when we can easily get £15m for him, so they don't really care about money Then they want to slate FSG for going for value options rather than quality Then they want to slate them for buying quality rather than value
Sterling went for £48m too, doesn't mean he's worth it! I know it's not my money. However, I'd like to think we're maximising the money we have
International managers are strange beings. Giroud is ****, even Arsenal fans know that, but he fits the system the manager wants.
We paid big money for Suarez and Torres and that was money well spent. I don't think we will pay £70m for VvD or anyone else, but I think we may go as high as £50m or £55m maybe
I'm confused what people want/expect from this window. Some want a few problem positions filled with that next level quality which will cost alot per player, and some want us to spend lower on each player and flesh out the squad with average to good players. Think the latter option is wrong, imo, we tried that with the Suarez money and it failed. Think ultimately there were three/four key positions we we lacking in last season, CB, DM, LB, CF. (part of the reason I didn't think Salah should have been a priority). Spending big to fill these positions with genuine quality would solve many of the problems from last season, whoever we decide to go for in the end. Sometimes you have to spend alot to cover the ground to get /maintain yourself at the next level
Am I the only one not that keen on getting rid of a load of players either? Not in this window either, our squad was so bare last seasons due to injuries.
I'd be ok with Klavan or Sakho gone proved we get a CB and Gomez stays Moreno, again if a LB came in Markovic can go, enough in this area, plus the best youth prospects seem to be ACM. Lucas, probably should have gone years ago Other than those think we should keep hold of the rest for now (with some on loan of course, ie Kent, Wilson, maybe Ings)
Last summer we made £20m. We spent nothing in the winter window. Klopp got us top four. He knows what he's doing. Let him get on with it. If we can afford £70m for a player he wants. Get the player for him.
Looks like chelsea might be out of the race for vvd. Chelsea look to be signing rudiger. @Jimmy Squarefoot and @Skylarker our european football correspondence on all football matters. How do you rate the most like to be ex roma defender? I know you guys are literally fawning over koubibaly but is this guy similar? But disappointed we let ake go but i guess at least this guy is a lot taller than ake
