Nobody else seems to have struggled with it. The negativity associated with signing players like Matic on the assumption that we're just gonna line up like a brick wall. It's a misconception that Jose sets his teams up to defend and play boring football.
I was more taking exception to the criticism of Fergies tactics, a guy who won 13 titles for us. After Fergie won his first title Liverpool where never better than us at any stage, so we never had to show them any respect by playing negatively, especially at Old Trafford.
Well is your point that he's not proven in the prem, or that he didn't cost £80m? You're not being very clear
That's your choice of words, 'playing negatively' but if it wasn't for Jose Mourinho we'd have had to deal with a Bindipper title win a few seasons back and that's not something I'm ever going to look at negatively. If a job needs done on a team, JM knows how to get it done. I'm not saying I'd have preferred JM to Fergie as our manager, of course that's a ridiculous statement.
Not really, can you lot afford to bomb £36m any more than we can afford to bomb £70m? I doubt it. Salah's stats from last season don't mean jack in this league, Mkhi's stats piss all over them in his last season for Dortmund. Arguably both players left for weaker clubs in terms of playing personnel, so we'll have to see once the managers have finished building their squads if the signings are worth the investments.
This proven in the prem stuff used to have some substance about 10 years ago when the prem was the top league in Europe. These days though the PL standard is probably as bad as its been for a good 20+ years. So I don't think that argument holds the weight it used to. I'm not saying Morata won't do well for us, as I think he will. I'm just saying that i don't think we are desperate for him with the players we already have in the squad. Morata for me is not a lot better than Rashford and Martial, and they have more potential to improve being so young.
I think JM sets his team according to the opposition. Unlike LVG who only had one style of possession football irrespective of whether playing Real or Hull. Not to lose the ball which makes for extremely boring viewing. For all the plaudits given to Spurs and City (at the start of the season) they finished trophyless. For all the criticisms of JM and his so called negative football he ended up with two trophies including a major European one as well as finishing in the CL proper ( and not in the qualification stages )
For that alone, he'll always have my support and I could never turn against him. Lifted my spirits and made that summer
Shouldn't Liverpool have gone for Defoe then, especially when they've got David No'Goals leading the line.
Clearly you didn't read it, newspapers are shocking. Just full of click bait these days to satisfy advertising views ffs
A lot of talk about De Gea now being offered in this deal. I can't understand offering the best goalkeeper in the world for the 3rd best striker at Real. Then I read that Joe Hart of all keepers is being lined up as a replacement. Romero is a lot better than Hart, and would be good enough to step up if De Gea is sold. Though I'd rather keep De Gea.
